Last year's dropping of programs was a huge disappointment...now this! Stop, stop stop. I can get all the other stuff on any station at all..The CBC is Canada at its best. Stop dumbing down Canadians who care AND PAY and VOTE.
One can only guess that those responsible for these unwelcome changes are not actually listeners of Radio 2 - too bad, they don't know what they are missing.
I strongly disagree with the changes made to programming on Radio 2 and find it most disheartening to learn of the cancelling of the CBC Radio Orchestra.Shame on you for dumbing down ththe national treasure that was Radio 2.In Alberta I will be listening to publically funded CKUA a whole lot more if these changes and proposed changes continue.
Please do not cut the program offerings that CBC Radio II has been offering to listeners both in Canada and elsewhere! A California follower thanks to the internet.
CBC 2 is not just for an older age group. There are school, church and community choirs across Canada with memberrs of all ages who consistently listen to CBC 2. There are many other radio stations for those that want music other than classical. The hosts of CBC 2 programs provide a great musical education for young and old. Stop this destruction of OUR CBC 2 Why are the great numbers of CBC 2 listeners being ignored?
Please stop vulgarizing the CBC. Already it has begun to sound like an American am station. There was a time when this country could pride itself on a public broadcaster that did not aim its programming at the lowest common denominator. Why are you determined to wreck what is left of if? Happily, I live near the border and can listen to PBS, but I have great sympathy for those who are stuck with a CBC distorted out of all recognition.
CBC radio's classical music programmingis unique. Don't tamper with this one venue for those of us who enjoy this type of programming which is very difficult to find elsewhere! Keep it strong all day and night--it's so pleasant to wake up to in the morning!
This action is unacceptable and undemocratic,in my opinion. Surely the Canadian people should have been advised of the impending decision and given an opportunity to respond-prior to the decision, seemingly, imposed upon us.
Our car and bedroom radio are tuned to CBC Radio 2. The Arts Report contained excellent information for our boys to relate to their classical repertoire and for me to share in our Music for Young Children classes. Please keep the CBC Orchestra intact in order to continue promoting classical music as a viable form. Our publically funded Radio 2 programming should remain as unique and informative as we have come to expect it.
CBC 2 is the only station featuring interrupted classical music. I listen to it all the time. I'm sure that most of listeners are classical music fans, so no changes are needed.
CBC RAdio 2 had been a vital part of my daily experience until April 2007. I have found with the numerous changes that I am hardly listening to CBC now and I fell I do not know what is going on in this country as a result. The Internet does not help me that much either as it is not Canadian-focused.
Nations will be appreciated, evaluated and sometimes used as examples in reference to their social, artistics and scientifical values and accomplishment.Canada has already been a leader in many domains but the disparition of the CBC Orchestra could be a sign that Canada has lost its position and will simply join the rank of countries that unfortunately have lost their vision in making the earth a good place for humans to evolve.Let's make sure institutions like the CBC Orchestra in Vancouver remains; so our pride as a territory where spiritual and social elevations are a priority!Thank you!Jean Desmarais
How can this happen in a progressive country. CBC has been the saving grace for me as an independent muscian working from a home studio...knowledge, information, inspiration. These other programs can be found on other stations.
