If people wanted to hear rock, they'd turn on a great rock station. There are already plenty. The CBC is known for great classical and jazz! They're just going to lose listeners by doing this.
I am very disappointed as well as disturbed by this further sign of the erosion of the CBC's mandate. Canada faces the same problem it always has: does it want to be a nation, or not? You seem to think not. We already have many commercial networks. The CBC should not be one of them.
I think CBC 2 is a treasure for the classical music it makes available. Please do not change it. Remember, us old folks are the ones who vote and have the money!
I support this very strongly. Radio - and CBC radio in particular - is surprisingly important, especially when we look at ourcommunity and cultural issues. I love it - please keep it going!
Travelling from'no man's land in Nortrhern Maine, I can received CBC Radio 2 within 100 yds of the border. It is great! don't in any way jeopardize this
I agree that CBC has lost its edge in presenting the best of Canadian music scene. The founders of the CBC and other organizations that promote Canadian music are surely disappointed and their effort have been squandered. As a people we need to work together to preserve our uniqueness.
The CBC has a responsibility to provide a stimulating and challenging body of content to the Canadian public. The dumbing-down of the content of the CBC seems to me to be a policy handed down from above in an effort to turn the broadcaster into the kind of irrelevant and worthless waste of tax money that the Conservatives are always trying to tell us it is. This is sabotage, and we cannot allow the CBC to justify further cuts to its funding by becoming mediocre.
If the changes in the CBC programming continue to dilute our classical heritage, I will ask my MP to support the end of public fiunding for the CBC.. something this government wants in any case!@!!
I agree completely with the comments and demands of this petition. The current management of the CBC Radio are violating the mandate of the CBC by preventing access by those of us in rural areas (Sooke, BC) to Canadian intellectual and artistic culture.
CBC Radio 2...unique and something of which to be proud as a Canadian BUT totally lost with the recent changes. Do revisit this issue and, hopefully, restore the proir format.
Please Save CBC Radio 2. It is a part of Canada's cultural fabric and therefore should be protected and preserved! How can we ever start the day without Tom Allen??
Commercialization ruins almost all cultural sources and activities, despite the support given by private industry. Do not give in to the pressure of popular trends. That way lies madness, as well as a watering and a dumbing down.
