The continuing decimation of classical programming on the CBC is a violation of its mandate. Their intention is to gain listeners, but the result will be quite the opposite. They claim to promote diversity but are in fact reducing it, in their drive to sound like any commercial station. Shameful, and a waste of our tax dollars.
CBC Radio 2 had many excellent programs that deserve to continue on! It is important to remember that in some parts of Canada, CBC is the only source of classical music available on public radio - let's keep it alive!
In many areas CBC is the only radio station that plays any classical music. Losing this would mean thousands would no longer have access to this resource
