There is a huge audience base of classical music lovers. Many of these people listen for several hours a day. In my own car, I listen to nothing but radio two. Please do not remove the classical music programs that are loved by so many!!
I am saddened by the changes to Radio 2. I hardly wvwer listen in the evenings now, as the music genres are so mixed up, I find myself at one time enjoying a piece, then rushing to turn off the radio as something entirely different and assaultitive to my earsis played. I DO have eclectic tastes, so I do not think my complaint is unreasonable.
My husband and I have listened to Radio 2 for years--so different from commercial pop stations--it has been our education in classical music. Please do not take this away from us and all the people that love Radio2
How can they disband the oldest orchestra in North America? What about the new talents? CBC radio 2 has the best programming in the world because it teaches the importance of classical music.
There are already many times when one simply cannot find classical music on the airwaves in the Ottawa area. Don\'t reduce further the classical programming on CBC Radio 2 under the pretext of increasing diversity.
I once observed jazz drummer Elvin Jones listening intently to a flute sonata-- classical music is relevant to every form of music. The classical programming of CBC Radio Two has inspired and supported a high level of musicianship all across Canada, and not just in classical music-- readily available classical music of high quality sets the bar high for any musician or composer in any realm of music. Without the quality classical programming of CBC Two, Canada would have become America, in a cultural sense, decades ago. CBC is supported by taxpayers, who should be allowed a voice in its programming.
CBC Radio 2 is one of the only decent radio stations that we have in this country. How can management begin to change the programming of this station. I know I\'ve been told by administration that Radio 2 only captures 3.4% of the radio listening public --- so what. My guess is that the remaining population is listening to local \'rock\' stations and wouldn\'t even think of tuning in to a decent Radio station. Stop messing with OUR station.
We rely on Tom Allen and Jurgen Gothe to make the daily commute to/from work at least tollerable, without their calming/entertaning voices and choices of music/commentary,they keep my road rage at bay.
I am an avid music fan and I always enjoy listening to CBC radio. I am disturbed that wonderful programs are being cut and replaced by who knows what... Change for the sake of change is not a good idea. We have seen that in other institutions in Ontario, such as education. Please reconsider this decision.
I believe the new changes to CBC two programming will please no one. Scheduling so much country and pop will just drive those who love classics to 96.3FM where they can hear classical music 24 hrs. a day. (though it is a commercial station and does not have the quality of music or hosts of the CBC. And those who love country, pop etc. already have their favourite stations of which there are many to choose - they will not switch to the CBC at those times you programme for them. And so you have lost the most loyal and avid listeners imaginable. Please reconsider all your changes to CBC Two, I can\'t imagine my days without Tom Allen, Catherine B., Eric Freisen, and Mr. Goethe. Please give us the CBC Two we\'ve had and loved for so many years. Thank you - Daisy Forrest
Does everything in life nowadays have to be geared towards the younger generations? Is CBC aware of the fact that many people who can\'t speak for themselves, the ones who are sick, lonesome, forgotten, old, often listen day after day to Radio 2 for comfort, healing, strength and enjoyment? To them the programme leaders may become long distance personal friends. Why doing away with something that was good and enjoyed by so many?CBC is a PUBLIC broadcaster and we seniors happen to be also part of the public.
I remember the time when, if one wanted to hear a broadcast of a symphony orchestra, one was almost limited to the New York Philharmonic. The CBC has contributed mightily to the development of orchestras in every major centre in Canada. What a shame to now limit their air time. I once went to sleep every night listening to \
There are so many junky radio stations now, we don\'t need any more of them. If radio 3 didn\'t work, what makes them think they can make radio 2 work with the formatting of radio 3?
CBC Radio Two united Canada in a nationwide concert hall.Listen to the comments on Heres to You as listeners share their requests if you do not think so.The flourishing of regional orchestras is a tangible result of the CBC broadcasts of their concerts.Programming an aimless mishmash aimed at the bubblegum generation presented by louche, ignorant, inarticulate gabblers will not attract those who think Brittney Spears is a great artist. They are glued to their iPods, but in so doing you have destroyed a unique national treasure drawing people together, without any consultation with those whose taxes pay for it. SHAME on you, CBC directors. You should answer to a national inquiry
CBC has been part of my life since 1949 (when Newfoundland became Canada\'s 10th province). I been fortunate during my lifetime that I have been able to live in many parts of Canada, including the Arctic. In every community, the link between us was the CBC. Some years ago, I stopped listening to CBC1 because of the change in programming. Now I am afraid that I will have no radio to keep me informed and entertained. Please stop messing around and restore our CBC2. All the wonderful announcers and program presenters have become warm friends and I will miss them all.
The recent changes announced in March 2008 will completely gut everything I enjoy about CBC Radio 2 -- currently the only station I listen to. Such changes will only serve to decimate existing listenership, and weaken the tenuous thread keeping the Tories from axing the CBC altogether. \
I need Radio 2 as an antidote to the noise and pace of urban professional life. Please do not lower the quality of your programming or listeners\' lives by losing this wonderful asset.
If CBC makes the changes it says it will, I will have absolutely nothing to listen to. I only listen to CBC Radio Two because of its content. If it changes to the same format as every other radio station, it may as well be dismantled altogether.
