I support this petition. Life will never be the same again. An oasis from the stresses of this life is gone, and likely will not return. It is a sad day for Canadians.
I support this petition. CBC Radio 2 is a hopelessly misguided exercise in uninformed, out-of-touch, irresponsible management, perpetuated by unaccountable bureaucrats shielded from much-needed government intervention by the Broadcasting Act... and all at public expense! This is a sickening example of democracy gone badly wrong, and lowest common denominator rubbish replacing thoughtful and intelligent programming. Heads should (metaphorically) roll!
I support this petition. If management states that classical music is still the 'core' of R2 programming, why is it not being presented with the same intelligent quality associated with presentation of this music previously? Otherwise, CBC is not serving a very large constituency drawn to this type of music. The music may be supposedly there, but tokenism won't do: the equation must be total. The music must be presented in a way that doesn't interfer with its integrity as a 'quality' product. Dumb host(ess) and an intelligent audience will be repelled, even though CBC claims the music they love is being served to them. Old Chinese saying: "You can take a horse to water, but you can't make him drink." Nice try, but no cigar. People habituated to quality are not going to settle for mediocracy.

What is being offered is not "a music mix you won't hear anywhere else." there is no groove to the music played. it is a mish mash and I certainly have heard many many of the cuts and foreign and canadian MOR and POP performers before. I am angry that handful of bureaucrats can wipe out staff, content and ignore hundreds of thousands of listeners, tens of thousands of which have allied and signed petitios like this one Culture and development of Canadian culture of a high quality in all ares of art is of vital importance.

I support this petition. Please return radio 2 to the high standards it upheld instead of the insipid, banal music it is now playing. If I wanted to listen to that I would turn my dial to the other stations on FM.
I support this petition... I reject the notion that classical music is elitist. The CBC was one of a very few bodies promoting culture beyond the mono-culture surrounding us on every other station. Now Radio Two is just a pop station without commercials.
I support this petition. I now only listen to CBC Radio during the day when the programming is classical music, I have no interest in what is being played evenings and weekends. I also understand that there are plans to cut the classical portion of the programming to even fewer hours per day in the near future...this CANNOT be allowed to happen!!

I support this petition. What used to be enjoyable and intellectually stimulating has been reduced to pure crap! Frankly, why don't they just scrap Radio 2 now instead of allowing it to die a slow and painful death - that seems to be the overall objective!
