Please restore classical and informational proramming on CBC Radio 2. As a Canadian, I have always been proud of the high calibre of programming on CBC Radio 2 -- programming that promoted the arts, put a focus on our superb Canadian artists, and assisted me personnally in my continuous learning in this area.
The current formula of a bit of everything for everyone is so poorly conceptualized that it indicates the current CBC management does not understand cultural programming. The radio is not an i-pod. And please, give us back knowledgeable program hosts from whom we can learn. That is what I miss the most. No one can impart more knowledge and insight about New Music than Larry Lake. What a tragic loss to the country.
You have reached an all time low with your banal and mediocre programming. You have lost me. If Seattle can give us 24/7 classical programming, why can't you?
Having fond memories of being at my girlfriend's home every Saturday from the age of 10 throughout highschool and her father playing Saturday Afternoon at the Opera throughout the house, I am dismayed that 38 years later this well loved program has been cancelled. Please restore this classic institution.
You are losing massively your faithful classical music audience and gaining nothing, no new listeners, no new fans because for your new target audience you are still too old fashioned. Restore what you damaged.
I used to love the CBC, but am now appalled by the new changes. Just to add some raucus music to your programs, doesn't attract a new adience. Instead, you chase the loyal listeners away!
I am so glad to have an opportunity with which to give feedback regarding the evening programming on CBC Two. The popular, psuedo classical, jazz and folk music that you have now programmed can be heard on many other stations. People who listen to CBC Radio Two listen to it because it is a classical music station. Now that you have taken away Two New Hours I simply don't listen to radio in the evenings anymore. This is true of all your non-classical music programs (including, at times, Disc Drive when it gets to
CBC 2 was my iinvariable radio companion. I am very disappointed with the changes recently made. I would like to listen to well-chosen classical music, and now I find myself looking elsewhere, since CBC is becoming one of many doing similar and boring programming, instead of being unique and interesting.
Certainly the management of the CBC should be able to find a way of reachong out to new audiences by introducing new programming while preserving the quality programming that has served this equally importand and loyal audience.
Who will be my Public Radio if CBC won't do it -who but the USA's NPR? I never ever dreamed ten years ago I would flee the CBC to find intelligent broadcasting in America. I include in this the fact that I have to turn off CBC TV news due to the horrendous stage ham voices of your announcers-
Two New Hours was Canada's national new music radio program. It presented the finest in new concert music from Canada and around the world. Two New Hours has won the gold, silver and bronze medals for excellence in international radio programming at the prestigious New York Festivals. Its host was one of most articulate and knowledgeable commentators on New Music. It is hard to believe this program has been cancelled.
