I particularly miss The Arts Report and felt, at the time, as if the changes came from nowhere. I understand that as a listener over the age of 45 I may be a less desirable demographic group but it should be remembered that we as a group control a lot of dispoable income and are accustomed to having our concerns addrssed in a responsible manner. We will not go away. Please reconsider your position very carefully before closing the door on this issue. Thank you.
The removal of classical music during the dinner hour is a tremendous loss to all. My late husband York Wilson always maintained that classical music was one of the greatest joys of his life.
How could anyone in their right mind not object to these deplorable changes? Om whay basis where these programming changes made? Please restore the CBC Radio Two to its former self. It was sometimes the only moment of sanity in a chaotic day, to hear Danielle Charbonneau or Andre Craig. Please.
Life is so awkard without the implement of arts. Whether its music or acting as a supporter to any art scene, life is empty without such beauty, and escape of the mind. It would be greatly disapointing to loose something so important to so many peoples lives.
I miss the arts report, and the classical programming, and especially the top of the hour news. I have reduced the amount of time I listen to Radio 2 by more than 75%. It's disappointing the changes that were made.
So many of us in th enorthern tier of USA depend upon CBC 2 for sanity and cultural news and especially the excellent classical music. What is left on CBC2 is not warmed over and we enjoy that- but the cancellation of the classical evening music is hard to understand. it is like turning on any US station. I urge you to restore the programing that made CBC-2 the beacon in our lives.

Please reinstate the full news on Radio Two. One of the defining characteristics of CBC listeners in general is their connection to the real world and that includes an interest in hearing news in its entirety.
At least Tom Allen's show remains more or less unscathed (except for the horrible promos), though I profoundly miss the Arts Report and accompanying banter weekday mornings. News casts are appallingly short and more of an insult to intelligent listeners than they are informative, and all local programming is gone except for the reinstatement of local weather reports. But it’s too little too late. Except for Music and Company, I’ve started listening to other stations or to my own CD collection instead because I just don’t like the new shows, and I REALLY miss Andrea Ratuski’s show at night on Radio 1. It and Tom Allen’s provided the perfect start and end to my weekdays.
I am disappointed by the loss of the Arts Report, the elimination of local and regional news at 9am, the loss of Music for a While, the disappearance of Andrew Craig, and on Radio 1, the loss of Northern Lights. There is now no classical music programming on either network between 11pm and 1am, and the replacement of Andrew Craig's show is of variable content.
I have to say I REALLY DISLIKE the new format. There's less news, too much jazz instead of classical music and worst of all - commercials for other programmes. One of the reasons I used to listen was that there were no commercials.I much prefer the old format.Susan GambleToronto
I was appalled at the sudden and arbitrary changes, profoundly disappointed, but thought that perhaps CBC has been forced to water down its offerings because of government indifference/animosity. I do wish to register my hope that some of the valuable programming will be recovered.
CBC Two is the only radio station in Edmonton that caters to the lovers of classical music. The new format erodes the content that drew me to CBC Two in the first place. There are other main stream stations that the new format has to compete with. I am not sure it is winning.
I have switched most of my listening (and financial support) to Detroit's 90.9 WRCJ which features classical musical by day and jazz in the evening with none of the dumbing down CBC has inflicted on us.
I have been a devoted listener to the CBC for 35 years. I don't have any argument with making programming consistent with the ethos of younger listeners, but there has been an at first slow, then thunderingly rapid dumbing down of content. It was with astonishment, followed by grief and then anger that I registered the sudden disappearance of Two New Hours, which has done so much to educate me and other listeners about new music, and has provided an important arena for composers of new music to be heard. I work all day and used to look forward to hearing music in the evenings on cbc 2. I loved Andrea Ratuski's program Northern Lights on Radio 1. The world music concerts are a great loss and the programming that replaces all these lost treasures is either designed for people with a short attention span and not too much education ,or it is simply re-hashed talk programs from earlier in the day. I would rather hear music in the evening. Worse there is nowhere else to go as 96.3 is endless schmaltz and Radio Canada usually has pop and jazz in the evenings. So, in short, our musical life since March has become a desert.
Why must the best programming in Canada for classical music suddenly change its format for one which is already available on countless radio stations acrosds Canada???? Seattle has just gained another Canadain listener!
