I think WVSU needs a masters degree in Counseling so students don't have to leave and go elsewhere to finish what they have already began at State. This would not only be a benifcical to the students, but to West Virginina and the School as well
West Virginia needs this despirately. We hope that all of the friends of Healing Through Creativity will support this giant step to help all survivors.
Every change begins with a few words. There is a vast and growing need for improvement in the field of mental health. The old "g.e.d. and driver license" criteria is not only wrongheaded, it is HARMFUL. Wake Up WV! There is superior talent here-- Let's keep it here. And seriously, can WVSU justify running only a couple of grad programs forever? Make a difference, invest in local talent and local education!
this is a no brainer. people who work in this field need to have these degrees availabe at colleges closer to them. these people do great things in their work. wvsu is a great college. without these degrees availabe the college is losing the students who want to continue in their field. bring in these degrees more students will come.
My wife will be graduating the CBHT program in Decemeber. This program has changed our lives by teaching us different ways to cope with our two teenage daughters who have been diagnosed with Bipolar disorder. By being able to further her education at WVSUCTC will bring nothing but positive outcomes.
I am currently working on my associates degree and plan on getting my maaster's degree. I love WVSCTC and would like to stay at this college, instead of going to a larger school, where it will seem like I am a number, not a student.
I am a proud graduate of the CBHT program and I am currently enrolled as a grad student at another university. It is a misfortune that this option is not available to those of us who would like to continue our education at WV State University in the Behavioral Health Field. I can also attest that the quality of the education I received during my AAS/CBHT at WVSCTC is above any other I have yet to attain.
My mom has a psychiatric disability and we struggle everyday with incompetently trained people with little or no more than a high scholl diploma or GED. If people were trained the right way, it would be so much better for us and for the many, many other families who must deal with this on a daily basis. Please help them get the resources needed to care for our loved ones in the way they deserve to be cared for.
I am a graduate of the CBHT program and have searched for a Masters program related to my experience and cannot find one. I would love to obtain my Masters in this program.
As WV State has achieved university status it is important to offer a seamless process to masters level education program such as this. A successful masters program would be a valuable recrutiting tool for the university. As a graduate of WV State CTC, I am in support of this program.
