Canada's legal system must be changed. Rewrite the Criminal Code and the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Ludicrous cutbacks are being made to the law enforcement facilities here in Winnipeg, never mind all over the country. We need more protection, not less. Our children need protection against child pornographers and molesters. Our women need protection against rape. The senseless, innocent killing of a Winnipeg teen who tragically got caught in the crossfire of gang warfare has to be the last and final straw. You, our fearless leaders are being held accountable. It is time to act, not talk. Your words are meaningless.

The message that society sends out to youths is that it's ok to terrorize, batter, beat, stab or otherwise mame another person because apparently, at 18, you magically know what's right and what's wrong. So, until you hit that magic age, feel free to do whatever you want with little or no consequence. It angers me that this law is turning the youth into the vermin of society with all the car breakins and eldery beatings and nothing ever happens to them. I say if you're old enough to do the crime, you're old enough to do the time.

I am afraid to start a family in the city. I plan to move to the country and just visit the city for business and family

I don't understand the scentencing that has been handed out in the last few years...it seems that all criminals are getting is a slap on the wrist (if even that). The message is being made very clear to would be criminals and repeat offenders...there are virtually no reprocussions for committing violet and criminal acts. It's no longer safe for descent, law abiding citizens to walk the streets. Something needs to be done to change the message.

Time to take back our city. Gangs are learning to use our legal system to their advantage. The gov't should be held just as accountable as the criminals. We elected them.

Enough is enough. For too long this government has brought nothing but shame to Canada, it is time to set things right.
