Change the name of BGT's new coaster to Cheetaka.
Published October 13, 2010
In the weeks and months leading up to the announcement of the new roller coaster project at Busch Gardens Tampa the populous was lead to believe through rumors and "leaked" art work for the ride queue building showing Cheetaka all over the place. The name for the coaster has just been announced as Cheetah Hunt which has been hit with a lot of opposition. To the populous Cheetaka had a better name and some have seen Cheetah Hunt as a coaster about going to hunt cheetahs instead of the Busch Gardens take that it will be the experience of going on a hunt with a cheetah.

As seen recently with the new Gap logo that has now been removed due to the outpouring of negative feedback on the social networks and media we feel that the same manner of social outcry can take this coaster and bring it back to what we wanted in the beginning. Some say its just a name. We say it is the mindset of the experience and we need to protect that.

Further information is coming to light showing that this was a last minute change from the suspected name of Cheetaka.

The domain name CheetahHunt.com was only registered on the 11th of October. Two days before it was announced.

The original domain name Cheetaka.com was registered back on April 5th, 2010.

Busch Gardens originally filed for the trademark of Cheetaka back on April 18th, 2010 and another pending trademark is still open for Cheetah Trail. There are no trademark filings for Cheetah Hunt or Cheetah Run.

Also there are no logos available for Cheetah Hunt at current. It would be expected that a logo for the ride would have already been available to show off at the grand unveiling of this mega attraction had they not changed it last minute.

Big thanks to Lance at Screamscape.com for the research on this.

More details...

Listen to the video explaining the ride and hear for the gaps where they changed Cheetaka to Cheetah Hunt. At 2:30 into this video it is a very clear difference.

A press release sent yesterday included CheeTaka in the file name. Curious is that this press release was sent yesterday while the new domain was registered two days ago.

Also leaked concept art showed the name as Cheetaka and not Cheetah Hunt.

Finally thank you all for the support thus far. We need more so keep spreading the word and keep the pressure on Busch Gardens.
