I think students shouldnt have homework because we have other things to do doing the day. We sometimes need to babysit. We also sometimes need to go places with our parents. Plus don't forget we get up real early in the morning and some of us go straight to sleep when we get home for a nap.

Reasons students also learn from activities in life other than textbooks and workbooks found in classrooms . A whole day in class and most of the night reading school books that are related to the subject in school leaves a student out of touch, without free time, and unable to get exercise or pursue extracurricular activities . Talents and interest of the student often cannot be nurtured in a classroom setting with teachers focused only on a specific subject. Little educational value has a negative effect I don't think children of any age should be given homework: their social lives are far more important than the irrelevant rubbish they are taught at school anyway. Martin Thompson, UK As a father of four boys, I can tell you that homework is completed as quickly as possible with quality being forsaken for speed. I'd rather the school day was extended, the holidays shortened, and teachers empowered more. The school itself is the "work place", and that's where the work should be done, with only the occasional project extending to "taking it home" - just like the real world! Mark M. Newdick, USA/UK Children of any age should never be given any homework. They learn enough at school which takes up more than enough of their valuable time. In my opinion, children should be free to spend as much time as they feel comfortable with doing the things that they enjoy, not what people think they should be doing. We live in a democracy and children should have the choice as to whether they work or not. Simon, England Children should be left to be children. Their home should be a place where they can play and their childhood can be extended. At school we rob our children of this childhood. We expose them to our adult concepts far too soon. Home should be safe and full of fun and fantasy, not forced reminders of where they get sent everyday. Did you like school? I didn't..... Bill Wyman, Australia
