This on-line petition seeks to gather support in order to encourage Senator Francis Escudero to make his presidential bid in the 2010 Presidential Elections. The lawmaker has not declared his intentions to run for the highest position but we believe that he is capable of leading the Philippines and that Filipinos are ready for a young brilliant leader. Thus, it is not surprising he is placing well in current pre-election surveys for the presidential race.

QUESTION: Does Francis Escudero really want to become president?

ANSWER: “A barangay captain who says he doesn’t think about it is lying through his teeth. Should it come, I won’t shirk from that responsibility, I’m not afraid of it. Do I aspire for it? At the proper time perhaps. Do I want to be? That’s why my then fraternity brods beat the hell out of me. I had to gall to say I wanted to become President…The basic question is, if you were in control, how would you run the zoo?”

Since he became a lawmaker at a young age of 28, his agenda has always been focused on education, livelihood, affordable housing, and accessible health service for the masses; progressive, safe and peaceful communities; competent, trustworthy and service-oriented local and national government. Escudero is seen as someone who can speak and stand not only for the young generation, but also for the entire nation. It is his intention to give voice to the unheard Filipinos in the Senate. He has been articulating our sentiments ever since he was in the Lower House. Let us persuade him to bring our voices all the way to Malacanang. Our country needs a leader with fresh ideas and clear visions. Our country needs Francis Escudero.
