The Congestion Charge, What they say about it:

Congestion charging is a way of ensuring that those using valuable and congested road space make a financial contribution.

The London scheme requires drivers to pay £5 per day if they wish to continue driving in central London during the scheme‘s hours of operation.

Now... even people who live in the charging zones and own a car have to pay, they say residents get a 90% discount, but that’s not fair, there just not charging the residents for driving their car there also charging them for parking outside their house.

Anyway, we all have opinions, and this is mine.

15 20 Feb 2007 - 15:13    Clive Ritchie. : We already pay the highest petrol tax in the world, plus road tax insurance then they want to screw us for actually driving on the roads!
14 20 Feb 2007 - 15:07    Michael Inglis : Road Tax, Fuel tax and insurance premium tax are already used as major sourcers of Governement revenue, and only a very small amount of this is used to benefit travellers. The UK motorist is already the highest taxed in the world, enough is enough! Congestion is caused by the Government's failure to address the failings of the Public Transport system. The new plans for nationwide congestion charges will not reduce congestion.
13 20 Feb 2007 - 2:59    Bill Kitchen : i used to admire "Red Ken" for being a thorn in the then Tory Governments side. Now I think he's just yet another politition, utterly out of touch with the guys (and girls) who elected him in the first place. KEN OUT!
12 19 Feb 2007 - 23:57    vincent myhan : It`s just typical of a slimy, sleazy deceitful group of modern day bandits posing as politicians! New Labour- Zero INTEGRITY!!! 8 12 Feb 2007 - 20:47    MICHAEL COOK : we already pay for use of the roads via petrol tax and road tax, very little of which is used in relation to roads or motoring.
7 13 Aug 2005 - 10:20    stewie : indeed!
6 15 Jul 2005 - 15:42    Dharms : The government (all major parties) have already planned a strategy for the UK in line with requirements agreed with other countries to, reduce car usage and ownership. This includes having a charge to cross central london The CC Zone, hten will be introduced crossing the north and or south circular and the M" as well as using the major m/ways all to be implemented by 2012! So the solution is not to have your councillors be members of the same party as the government so that the residetns can have a chance to win!
5 24 Jun 2005 - 6:24    screw the CC : YES it ****s. Ken Livingston is taking the piss - and the bus fares? £1.20 for a single ****ing journey, and now theyre planning for under 16's to go free some time next year.. I presume that means ANOTHER hike in fares. This guy needs to sort himself out... losing a lot of support down this end
