The press in America has only recently taken notice of this story and I can tell you that I am appalled by the Indonesian government's handling of this matter. As someone who has visited Bali and has travelled around the world, I know that luggage is frequently out of one's possession or otherwise accessible to someone other than its rightful owner. To think the Indonesian goverment would impose life in prison or the death sentence on someone in this situation, who never attempted to sell the drugs, has no history of selling drugs is outrageous. Moreover, why would a beauty school student smuggle drugs INTO Bali. It makes absolutely no sense. (Compare to the movie "Midnight Express," in which an American was caught smuggling drugs into Turkey on his BODY and was sentenced to life in a Turkish prison). Schappelle Corby's real-life nightmare must come to an end. All Australians should BOYCOTT BALI, as should people in other parts of the world. This makes the American in Singapore canning case (where the kid did engage in certain prohibitted conduct) seem like a day at the beach in comparison. SHAME ON INDONESIA.

I think Corby is totally innocent and the only ones who should be feeling guilty at the moment are our government and PM who are just standing by watching this injustice occur, I'm sure if Corby was American Howard would be doing everything in his power to help free her just to get further up Bush's ass..shame on you, its always the innocent ones who get stepped on..FREE CORBY and may justice be done to her and her family!

i don't think boycotting is a solution. i think perhaps getting behind the work of amnesty international, which has been lobbying to eradicate the death penalty. we shouldn't wait for situations like this to arise to then start putting pressure on governments that have the death penalty. for me, it all underlines the importance of being vigilant about human rights in all countries as well as more liberal drug reform, even when there appears to be no issue and no one's life is at stake. why wait? for me, whether she is guilty or innocent it's crazy that someone's life can be taken away for trafficking. we aren't victims in this, because we can do something about it more long term.

I am disgusted with the fact that they golrify the Bali bombers and give them RIDICULOUS light sentences despite the fact they ADMIT involvement and then treat Schappelle Corby like this when nothing can be proved! I CALL ON ALL AUSTRALIANS TO BOYCOTT INDONESIA AND ALL ITS PRODUCTS. Let's kick them in the tourism balls and maybe if they get pressure from the inside tourist industries they will rethink it all. They don't care about our Aussies being murdered by terrorists. The other problem this situation highlights is CORRUPTION in the customs. NONE of us are safe to travel whilst these people move in the customs area undetected! Do YOU want to be the next victim of customs???? Or your child or husband or wife? We are all at risk!

Where is our man of Steel when we need him? What a typically spineless response from our PM to the barbaric treatment of Schappelle Corby at the hands of a people that obviously love our money but treat our citizens with contempt. Our man John felt that it was not appropriate for him to discuss this matter with the Indonesian leader while he was in Australia. What a gutless little man. Would this woman be in this situation if she were the daughter of a politician or the daughter of one of Mr Howard's generous corporate backers? I don't think so. Boycott all things Indonesian and let this government know that jailing and mistreatment of Australian citizens without eveidence should not be tolerated. $1.5 billion of the taxpeyers money should carry some clout. Its time to use it.

I dont personally believe Schappelle is guilty. However, many people do. I'm not one to force them to change thier opinions, but they need to look more closely at Schappelle and her information, rather than disregarding her simply because she is not native to Bali. It's unacceptable.

I feel bad for Schappelle. Even if she is guilty, the death penalty is so barbaric. I couldn't begin to imagine how she is feeling right now or her parents. With respect of the Bali 9, they don't deserve the death penalty either but they gotta do time for their crime. My sympathies for their parents.

I vow never to visit Bali in my lifetime and I hope that all Australians will join me on never visiting this backward country with primitive laws that allows the murder of Australian to take place. My wish is that our government will stand up for our people in Bali and bring them home with our troops. I feel so sick inside.

Schappelle is absolutely innocent....it is just so inhumane to treat other fellow human beings this way.....we can't even begin to imagine the stress and helplessness that Schappelle would be feeling.... My 2yr old whilst travelling could have drugs placed in his bag...I suppose the authorities would think he was guilty too.. It definately doesn't give you any future confidence in traveling to Bali...you just could'nt risk it!! believe in yourself Schappelle..X

If the Government won't take action to assist Schappelle then all we can do as indiduals is to boycott Indonesia both in products and in tourism...and we need to run a campaign to make it clear why we are doing so. Any one of us could be in the same predicament as Schappelle just by taking a holiday. My heart goes out to her.

Schappelle is NOT GUILTY watch her body language and anyway it makes no sense to smuggle drugs into indonesia when you could get more for it on the streets of Australia were you that way inclined,These bloodthirsty bastards have already decided she is guilty .From this point on I will not buy anything with the slightest connection to indonesia ,I will not deal with indonesians, and for their lack of support and lack of Aussie guts I along with thousands of true Australians will see to it that John Howard and Alexander Downer are thrown out of government. They have sold out on us with the free trade agreement with Asia in general and now they have sold out on one of our own Schappelle Corby. May Howard,Downer and the indonesian judges rot in Hell

I used to want to travel the world, but after hearing the stories of the Bali 9 and Schappelle, I will be quite happy to never leave Australia thanks very much. I think the whole deal with Schappelle sucks. Why would someone smuggle drugs into a country, where it is probably worth half or even a third of what she paid for it originally ?? It doesn't make any sense. LET SCHAPPELLE COME HOME !!! SHE IS NOT GUILTY !!! She has tested positive to drug tests she has had to undertake. She even agreed to a bag search when she arrived @ the airport in Bali. Who in their right mind would willingly agree to a bag search, if they knew full well they had 4kg of marijuana stuffed in their bag ??? THAT'S RIGHT - No one in their right mind would submit to a search without trying to dump the bag, & run back through the door from which they just entered the country. Maybe she should have said that she was Jamaar Islamia ( or however you ****ing spell it ), that way she could have slipped down town, blown up a night club, & been home in 12 months with a pat on the back from the Indonesian government, because it seems to be OK to kill people at random like this & get away with it, as is evident by the sentencing of the Bali bombers. I don't agree with drug trafficking at all, but to convict this poor woman in a country that is foreign to her, especially when all the evidence points to her being innocent, IS A CRIME IN ITS SELF. JOHN HOWARD AND ALEXANDER DOWNER WILL HAVE BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS IF SHE IS EXECUTED. I have never felt so much anger, compassion and sadness for a complete stranger & her family as I do right now. PLEASE JUDGE, PLEASE, LET SCHAPPELLE COME HOME. SHE IS NOT GUILTY......

I would like to do whatever I can to help. What is particularly worrying, is that this could could happen to any of the sons and daughters of anyone in Australia. If you have recently read that Russell Crowe weaps a bit when he sees a picture of the lovely Schappelle, well you can add me as being upset at her plight. The crazy thing about all this and doesn't make sense is that Marijuana from OZ costs much more here than in Bali....similar to sending ice to the south pole,,,,that alone indicates she could not have been involved in smuggling drugs into that crummy country. I will never set foot in that hole of a joint even if she did get off. Schappelle we love you and need you to come home to your folks.
