Signatures #1500 through #1600 for the Free Schapella Corby from Bali petition
Tony Smith said 03/08/05, 5:49 am (verified)
All Australians should collectively use our power to ensure that Ms Corby receives a fair trial. This can be achieved by the following: 1. This petition should be forwarded to the Governor of Bali in an attempt to make him realise that unless a fair trial is given to Ms Corby, then no Australian or any westerner for that matter should holiday in Bali as the risk posed is far greater than the reward. 2. The Australian Liberal Government should be forwarded this petition that if they do not intervene and ensure that Ms Corby is given a fair trial that the voters of Australia will change their preference to a government who can demonstrate support for its people. 3. This petition should be forwarded to the Indonesian Government to demonstrate the over whelming sentiment of the Australian population that is demanding that Ms Corby be given a fair trial. Failure to do so could only harm relations between the 2 countries with particular emphasis on the ongoing aid that Australia provides Indonesia regardless of their contempt for our citizens and justice for all crimes committed by people from both countries. eg. the pathetic sentence handed down to Abu Bakar Bashir who is guilty of conspiring to kill 202 people of whom 88 were Australians. I would appreciate any effort that you can make in regards to completing the petition and forwarding this email to any of your friends or associates. Do not leave this unattended as it will be too late when Ms Corby is facing the firing squad and we as a country have made little or no effort to help.

a malaysian friend explained to me how the customs officials in airports like bali wait for unlocked bags of foreigners to smuggle goods around - odd though that an australian is 'caught' at a time that places her trial near that of bashir...remember the risks involved in travelling to countries with corrupt authorities - if something happens you will not get a fair trial.

Nobody deserves death. This is barbaric. What kind of world do we live in where murderers get let free but others who are simply alleged of committing non-violent "crimes" must die? No group of people can be considered a civilisation if they allow such a thing to actually happen.

Indonesia's judicial system put Bashir away for 2.5 years for the proven murder of over 200 innocent souls. It is set to murder another innocent soul based on circumstantial evidence. There but for the grace of God go I. Get her out of there, the trial is a joke without the now lost and much needed evidence to help prove her innocence.

the nature of a great number of these comments is shocking. if you intend to persuade a sovereign nation to review its judicial system, profanity and racist insults are not typically an effective solution. if people are truly serious about seeing justice done for ms. corby, i would implore you to seek more proactive means to pursue your cause.

Mary Jane is a plant from the earth that us humans have distroyed. People do worse things to their body besides taking a substance that makes you happy a lot. And killing someone like that, you're just letting them get away with it easier. Give her a slap on the tush, and focus more on people stabing others or high jacking planes.

The ones responsible for this prosecution and possable death sentance are themselves criminals against humanity for considering death equal to the crime of marijuana smuggling. I would call for all officials to be assasinated by supporters of this cause in Bali, if the death sentance goes through, and have the testicles removed from their representatives within the United States and Austrailia for their inaction in this matter.Of course I am not resourcefull enough to do this, so all I can do is pray she gets a fair hearing, and extradition back to her own country without being executed. The thought of killing her is rediculous, and I will harrass the indonesian consulate within the U.S. Personally by Phone within the next few hours...
