No one should be put to death over marijuana. This is a travesty of justice from a Westerner’s perspective, but not necessarily from an Indonesian's. Hopefully one day this will be corrected. These harsh laws are due to the culture and power structure of Indonesia and will take decades to change. Until then all you can due is encourage your respective governments to pressure the government of Indonesia for a humanitarian resolution.

This is an innocent girl who got screwed over by somebody who is money hungry and looking for an easy way to smuggle drugs accross the border. Over 200 innocents murdered by Bashir and he gets a couple of years - he should have got executed. By comparison with his sentence Schapella should get a slap on the wrist, if she was guilty and I don't believe she is!
Demand a fair trial and stop all aid that Australia provides Indonesia until their Government can demonstrate the same level of humanity, they don't deserve another Australian tourist or aid dollar.
Let's see some equity between the pathetic sentence handed down to Abu Bakar Bashir, guilty of conspiring to kill 202 people, 88 were Australians and the death sentence served to someone who doesn't get a fair trial.
How could she have taken that amount of drugs through our Australian Airport screenings? Schapelle definitely deserves a fair trial & the backing of all Australians, and most definitely our Government.
As a family member of a survivor of the Sari Club bombing, we need to have fairer systems in place, let justice show through and give Schapelle a fair trial unlike the one given their people.
Schapelle deserves a fair trial.She's only guilty if proven beyond a reasonable doubt. I think there is so much reasonable doubt in this case that she should be set free.
I dont believe Shapelle is guilty, however regardless of whether she is or isnt, she doesnt deserve death. If she were guilty, a stupid mistake such as this shouldnt determine whether she lives or dies. I hope for Shapelles sake that Australia wakes up and not only protects our country's best interests economically but also our citizens in situations such as this.

I don't know Shapelle or know if she's guilty, but seems pretty unlikely that anyone would attempt to IMPORT drugs into Bali when they're so readily available there (any Western visitor to Bali can attest to being offered drugs there). Give her a fair trial, DNA test the drugs to see where they were grown, fingerprint the bag; treat her as 'innocent until proven guilty'.
