It was very interesting to read through some of the comments on this petition especially number 247.
I have to say to number 247 that you are right.
Indonesia is a sovereign country (… so why is it that this sovereign country always leans on Australia for aid in times of crisis?) .
You are also correct in saying we wouldn’t free an Indonesian (or anyone else for that fact) caught smuggling drugs into Australia (but they would receive a fair trial, with full investigation into their claims of innocence and would not be facing a firing squad).
You must believe that if Indonesia was really serious about drugs and trafficking the government would begin clearing out the men who peddle these illegal substances on the streets of Bali everyday (Would they all face the death penalty? Because you would really need some firing squad for that).
But again you are right Indonesia does know more about the running of its country and the laws that they adhere to so strictly (is that why the Bali bombers are still sitting in their cells when they were given the death penalty for killing hundreds of people?).

Please free this Australian Woman, Shapelle Corby. She is INNOCENT. Please send her back to her own country - Australia. I would be too afraid to visit Bali. I'm sure other tourists would feel too afraid to now after this injustice as well. If you do not have Absolute Proof, how can you execute a girl with her whole life ahead of her. What gives you the right to kill her when you cannot absolutely prove that she did this.

whilst I have no problems with Indonesia, I feel she should be released to Australia. I am not sure of her guilt or innocense but it is a joke that in some parts of the world you can smoke marijuana in a cafe and in other parts of the world you can be killed for it. I hope Schapelle will be released. She does not deserve to be treated in such a inhumane manner. Indonesia can smile and wish the worst for Schapelle all they want. precisely because she is NOT guilty BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT and she is not considered INNOCENT until proven GUILTY. And the point is, that EVERY Australian that goes to Bali potentially exposes themself to the risk of being in the same positon as Chapelle. So, when you consider the masses of tourists that visit Bali from Australia and the financial injection that represents to the Indonesian economy, it would seem inconceivable that we, as thinking, intelligent people will continue to go to that place and "reward" that country with our tourist dollars after watching one of our young citizens is being subjected to the most unbelievable treatment at the hands of the Indonesian authorities - think about it ... if you have ever gone to Bali (or if you ever go in the future, it could be you in Chapelle's place. (It won't be me because I will NEVER go to BALI after this!!).
Chapelle "matters" becuase she is the personification of EVERY Australian tourist that has ever gone, or will go to Bali - if we sit back and just passively watch this "horror" play out, we will be not just letting Chapelle down but we will be letting ourselves down as a country - It's clear that our Government is "committed" to creating freedom for Iraqis - WHAT ABOUT OUR OWN CITIZENS!!!

Having been to Bali before, I loved that country, my opinion has changed rapidly with the way that they treat Australians. If the "shoe was on the other foot", there would be one hell of an uproar from the Indonesians. Set Schapelle free - she is innocent!

I find it disgraceful that the Indonesians are so aggressive towards Australians, yet we are always the first country to offer our support in every way. It's about time they stopped "taking" and started "giving".
When i look at schapelle on the TV it scares me to think that she could be anyone of us framed or not for something we didnt do. I am in a few weeks leaving Australia to travel the world and would never visit any Asian country in fear that this could happen to me and that my own government would not do a thing to get met out of this predicament. For a woman who has travelled to Bali on a number of occasions and has a family member living there, why would she want to jepodise any situation when your a frequent visitor, it just dosen't make sense.

I am indonesian and have been to Indonesia many times, and from what I have seen Schapella will be very lucky to be released. Indonesia is famous for its corruption...just don't rasie your hopes. Started to read the comments in this petition and had to stop when I got to number 247. I strongly advise petitioner 247 to apoligise for the disgusting comments about Schapelle being guilty and "taking the role of satan in an ungly human form". The fact that a man was willing to risk his life by giving evidence to support Schappelle's case indicates that she is probably innocent. There is more than reasonable doubt

Please go to any lengths to return Ms Corby to Australia. There is a great deal of 'reasonable doubt' that Ms Corby willingly and knowingly smuggled the contrband into Indonesia. She must be given every opportunity to be freed!
I understand that each country has a right to their own laws and we need to respect that, but a law that is so inhumane doesn't warrant support. No fingerprinting of the bag? Erased videos? Could it be that both the Indonesian and Australian Government have too much to hide re security issues at airports etc. Imagine what gets in and out of our countries that we know nothing about!!
I think it is wrong that Schapella isn't given enough time or opportunity to prove her case. I will not support Bali if she is put to death. That means never buying products from Bali, never visiting that country. In fact if she is found guilty I will forget that Bali ever existed. Set her free because she is innocent and a subject to someone elses crime!

I just want to scream at the Australian government due to their apathy regarding Schapelle's matter. Awful news today about the earthquake in Indonesia but I do not want one single cent given to Indonesia in aid until Schapelle is free. Money found for aid could have been used earlier to fund Schapelle's legal battle. Thankfully Schapelle is being assisted by Mr Bakir and Mr Tampoe. I'd love to kiss you both! Has there been an investigation into Australian customs and all the behind the scenes employees? Perhaps that is why Schapelle has been left there all this time so that they will not be embarassed by what is going on. Why didn't the Australian Federal Police act on information from Mr Ford's ex-wife? There are too many unanswered questions in this matter and I think that if a proper enquiry where to take place the results could prove to be explosive. FREE SCHAPELLE IMMEDIATELY! I am 30 and live with my 85 year olg grandfather, we both fully beleive in Schapelles inocent. Any one with half a brain can see this. And we are both not fooled easily. If our goverment dosen't help this poor girl, may god have mercy on there souls.

What ever the game the police or politicians in Indonesia are playing they should stop it now. They should put a bit more effort into jailing terrorists. maybe the right amount of bribes have notbeen offered yet. Plys shame on the Howard Goverments for their pathetic lack of help. How about we cancel all aid to Indoesia and see how they feel about that !!.
