anyone remember the name of the man who nailed jesus to the cross? neither do I, but the name Pontious Pilot- who showed only kindness and tempidity to christ, then washed his hands in a bowl of water and said "I wash my hands of it"-has gone down in history, as the man 'who had the power to do something about a situation, and yet did nothing'. I think of him now... as our government continues to wash their hands.

Our hearts go out to schapelle because she is stuck in the middle of something she had no idea about and shes just an innocent bystander. what she is going through, i wouldn't even wish that upon my worst enemy. Please take the time and effort to at least find out if there is anyone else who may be linked to such a crime and question them instead of pinning all the blame on this poor girl. How would you like to be convicted of something you have no idea about?! how would you like it if your sister or daughter or aunty or mother had been told they will die for the faults of someone else, just because the government cant be bothered following the case up properly!! jsut ask yourselves that, and then we'll see if you truly convict her or not! our hearts go out to you, and the majority of Australian's support is behind you.

The facts should be lokked at properly. She is obviously not the type to try and smuggle drugs into a country where this drug is so available anyway.

I've gotta side with her as it is just too dumb to be deliberate. My thoughts are with her parents watching her being played as a political pawn - the karma that ppl have mentioned is to me that she does seem strong, and hopefully when she's free she can clean up with the story/rights. Doesn't make up for what she's suffered but it will give her a life she won't have expected otherwise!! For when she is eventually free: you go for it, for whatever reason, it's your path!

Howard,Costellow, and Downer are playing politics again, we have detention centres full of people who are getting leagle aid but the poor aussie can fry as they do not wish to get what the northern people have been giving them for years (the rough end of the pineapple) so after it is over howard will say I and the misfit will bring her home to serve her sentance hence we are heros again. If we gave one billion from 24 million people how much did we get from 240 million after cyclone tracy ???? no need to work it out per head of population. Tryiny to by frendship is bad enought but when you use other peoples money for your own gain will answer in another life for your deceite

I know I should've added my opininon beforehand, but. In 1996/7 I went on my fist holiday to Bali on my own without family, I was about 19/20 years old and was very nervous about this. When I arrived in Bali (for 10 days) it took me a while to make friends - I'm not an outgoing/confident person. But eventually it ended up that I had the time of my life. On the way home however, when arriving in Darwin a beagle stopped by my suitcase, me being niave I thought the dog really cute, but when security picked me up for him stopping. It was a very distressing point of time for me that would change my thinking forever. Security emptied absolutely everytthing, went through my toothpaste with sticks, xrayed my shoes, went through my address book (How do you know this person etc.) In the end I was held up for my flight back to Melbourne because security wanted to take me for an external examination. I told them if it proved that I didn't do anything wrong, that they were quite welcome to stick their gloves up me, because I KNOW that I hadn't done anything wrong. In the end they gave me escort to my flight to Melbourne because the flight was waiting for me to go. When I met my parents at Melbourne airport I was balling my eyes out because of the ordeal that I went through. The minute mum saw me she said "did you enjoy yourself that much that you did'nt want to come home". Then I told her what had happened. Since then even though I have no guilty conscience I make sure that I only take hand luggage with me wherever I go, which isn't too many places as you might be able to understand. My point is that I know that I DID NOT DO 1 thing wrong, but there are people that will still doubt. I believe that Schapelle couldn't be that silly to even try to smuggle all that into a country where we are all warned and have all seen Bangkok Hilton. Give her a break, people are out there that will do this sort of thing to others and not have any remorse. I

I cannot believe the Indo govt can let terrorist related criminals get off with basically a slap on the wrist, yet someone like Shapelle is facing death for a natural product that God put on the earth that wasnt even hers anyway??? what kind of place is Indonesia??? it seems like a third world country who is FAR beyond the times. I swear I will not purchase any product that is from Indonesia nor go to Indonesian resturants nor ever visit the place nor brake when I see an Indonesian crossing the street in this country. EVEM IF SHAPELLE IS FREED WITHOUT CHARGES, just for the sake that she's been put thru this hell on a mere 'false accusation' by some monkey customs officer in Indonesia... I still will never support Indonesia and have a large group of followers who feel the same. I also cannot believe the Australian Government is so PISSWEAK that they arent doing anything about the Shapelle issue, and also that they are pissweak for letting the Indo courts give a mere slap on the wrist to terrorist related activity, especially when so many of our Australian people perished in Indonesia because of acts of terrorism. I dont like George Bush's government but I'd sure like to see his govt nuke Indonesia along with all other countries who are backing down to terrorism.

The Indonesions will not admit they wish to make an example of this poor young lady. They will hopefully look within themeselves and see the stupidity of bringing this to trial. I have visited Bali twice and allways found the people freindly but simple. Lets hope commonsense will prevail. It is clear that there are too many anomalies in this case to convict, unfortunately Indonesian law does not require proof beyond reasonable doubt. There is clearly a lot of pride and ego at stake here from the indonesian point of view. One more day in that hell hole is too long!! Shapelle, even if you are convicted, stay strong the Australian people will not forget you, we will do all we can to put presure on our Govt to save you! You are everyones Daughter and Sister. Innocent or not she should not get the death penalty. If a terrorist gets 2 years jail for having a role in the bali bombing then it's bullshit for her to killed for a drug that has killed....noone! Alcohol and cigarettes kill more people than any other drug COMBINED times 1000! If they kill her, they are just murderers not a government of justice.
