Schapelle has obviously been the victim of a criminal gang who screwed up. She should have been freed the moment evidence supporting this was produced. I agree the Indonesian justice system seems most unfair when their convicted bombers are given such light sentenses & an innocent tourist is thrown in jail & handed the death penalty. Not at all fair. Then their Prime Minister has the gall to show up over here & our "Wonderful" Mr Howard welcomes him. Howard is as bad as they are
Save Schapelle! This could happen to anyone, I suggest the Government intervene and certainly look into airport security systems as the drugs should never have left. Perhaps we should suspend tourist flights to Bali until the Indonesian Government releases Schapelle into Australian custody?!
It's heartbreaking to see Schapelle being subjected to such an unjust, shocking and frightening ordeal. This could happen to any innocent person. The handling of this case by the Indonesian government is appalling and is causing irreversible damage to Indonesia's relationship with Australia and the Australian people.
It is 2005! Get with the frigen program Bali! Capital punishment is a thing of the past. The the poor bloody girl go or at least release her into the hands of the australian authorities! After everything our country has done for you, this is how you treat one of your saviors. we'll dont expect any help next time something devastating happens in your home land, fend for your selves.
And the Australian government get off your arses and save the poor girl! She is clearly innocent! You seem to be able to afford to hand over the money in circumstances like the bali bombings, do whatever it takes. offer the balinese govt a cash some to give her back. Shapelle must be going through hell! Save her before those bastards kill her!
The Indonesian punishment for drug smuggling is ridiculous and outdated to say the least...barbaric. Even if she is found guilty (and I highly doubt she is) this does not justify her being sent to her death. The man who allegedly placed 4.1 kg of marijuana in Corby's bodyboard bag has been NAMED...instead of Corby taking the buck, authorities should investigate this man more than they are currently. The whole situation is just pathetic, the way she is being treated.
i am not interested in going back to bali ever... poor schapelle... i hope she comes back to australia...and never has a holiday outside our country again.i feel for her.-and would love the indonesians to see sense!!
reckon it is ridiculous!
Look at the punishment she is getting for "apparently" smuggling in dope. Now look at the punishment they gave their own (the bali bombings).....a measly 2 years or something for killing 180 ppl or so!
All the help we gave them & look how they treat aussie's its bloody disgusting!
As for the government...bah......sur ely they can put some money together to try to get her out! I mean they gave Bali heaps of money but yet they cant help their own!
I was so proup to be an Aussie for all the help we have given to Bali & plus the money we gave to help the victims of the tsunami...but then something like this Schapelle Corby thing makes me absolutly disgusted to be apart of a country where the government doesn't give a shit about helping their own ppl!!
The Girl is innocent....anyone can see that!
near-genocide scale murder in Timor
= A-OK.
few pounds of weed = Death?
i just can't understand it.
Go IMF, go WTO... hope you enjoy the feel of blood on your hands.
I like many Australians feel sick for Schapelle. We have no way of knowing what is happening to our luggage when travelling, and we should feel that our government will protect us. After all as corny as it sounds we are all innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around. I am sure our government could look into this a lot more from the Australian side of what happened before Schapelle left our country. I for one am disgusted at the amount of support coming from the authorities in this country, and now know that being patriotic to Australia means nothing anymore. To Schapelle and her family my thoughts are with you constantly. To the Indonesian government I ask that you look into your hearts as you know this cannot be right, and plead that you demand the Australian government report to you as soon as possible the events leading up to Schapelle entering your country
It's very hard to even contemplate the pain she must be going through. I feel for her. I wish Australia would do more for her. I feel so helpless when I see the news.
i think Karma is trying to tell indonesia something.i hope you respond positively because if i feel anything i feel australia will act and must act if this girl is not released.its time for change, wake up to that.
It's so obvious she's innocent, from all that's been said, so who is perpetuating the cover-up and letting her take the blame for something she didn't do?
As someone who has met Schapelle on several occasons I am fully convinced of her innocence - she simply did not do this. I have thought of her every day since and pray that she will soon return home
To take a life for a minor offence is criminal. To be stupid enough to believe that this person would take a substance that is worth more in Australia than Bali is just plain arrogance from the Justic deptartment in Bali. One should stop and think why we would support their people in their time of need, when they clearly do not support our people. Again it is clear that these people are not capable to behave as humans. If the people of Bali cannot see the injustice in this then I will never again support any drive for charity to assist them.
It is so obvious Schapelle Corby is innocent - I cannot believe she is still being detained. I have been to Bali twice but will never travel back to Indonesia again.
Clearly a political statement rather than any real justice from the indoesian government.
If any one knows which companies to boycot, please publish them, also, we should boycot QANTAS for their blatant refusal to give the evidance (video tapes) that would have proven that their own staff had meddled with her baggage.
Australian's have held out our there hands to care for our neighbours through the natural disasters that have rocked the indonesioan archipeligo. There needs to be returned energy & care in making an immediate decision on simply how rediculous this case is.There is no case against this innocent victim. Let her go so we can concentrate our efforts towards the humanitary needs of the Indonesian people.
What an obvious mis-justice. Surely the Judges must realise that Shapella is innocent. In any other court of law this case would be over. I will happily boycott Indonesia, who would want this to happen to you!
Im saddened by the detention of this young woman. I can see she's losing her spirit. I feel that she has been a mule in this instance and would like the government to try every which way to get her out of there.I personally will never go there as this could happen to any of us. Their judicial system is laughable . How can they expect to be taken seriously. Everyone talking and cameras rolling. What a joke!
Shappelle has more than likely already suffered deep psychological damage by her experience - I have just returned from Bali where I met and spent time with some of her very supportive friends and understand the poor kid is doing it hard. Especially now that I think she realises that the 'evidence' John Ford gave last week will no doubt hold little weight in her defence and possibly even go against her. The footage of Shappelle sitting alone in her cell with a terrified look on her face crying ripped my heart out. It disgusts me that such an obvious miscarriage of justice can still happen in this day and age. Is our Government trying to hide something? Possibly the embarrassment that this sort of 'domestic drug smuggling' operation has been going on under their noses for decades without interference or proper investigation??? Are they so embarrassed on how it must look to the rest of the world of how lax our airport luggage screening facilities are (especially after 9/11) that they are prepared to sacrifice an innocent Australian citizen to save face??? While it is highly unlikely the death sentence would be imposed, it is surely enough to put the fear of God into this girl. Even being handed down a sentence of 15 years to languish in an Indonesian jail would be enough to make you wish you were dead anyway. Shappelle has already spent almost 7 months sleeping on a sarong on a concrete floor in a Balinese jail awaiting her fate. Someone HAS to pay for that! Perhaps the Australian Government know damn well IF she is acquitted of the charges she will come home looking to sue the backside of Qantas and the Australian Government for their incompetence. I know I would... I'm sure many Australians will join me in boycotting travelling to Indonesia should the farcical situation of a possible 'guilty' verdict be imposed. I have been to Bali many times and personally would NEVER return again. I pray to God that common sense prevails here and that
This is ridiculous, she obviously didn't do it. Apart from that the death penalty is barbaric, join the civilised world a abolish it. (that applies for america too)
one world, one race. what have we done??how have we let such an injustice occur. this is not a unique case!!unbelieivably disgusting!and the australian government, what have they done???NOT ENOUGH, they have the power to stop this. and so do we, its time we put an end to these horrific injustices!
Why would someone take 4 kilograms of maryiuna into Indonesia, what to sell it. It would cost you more here to get it than over there. The whole case against her dose not make sense. And just looking at her and the way she acts-this person has been framed.
This is a fucking joke! How the fuck could anybody get a body bord bag through the Australian customs. Dogs check every bodies bag when you fucking checking in. Its obviously an inside transportation job or some fucking little corrupt customs fucker from dempasar. Ive delt with those ass holes and they tried to keep one of my boards. I had to pay them out like $50 to get it in. May gog be with you. What doesnt kill you will only make you stronger. You will look at life at a whole new perspective after this and take nothing for granted. May god be with you! Armen!
I travel overseas at least once a year and would hate to be put in Schapelle's position. She is innocent and it is more than obvious. Your countries archiac laws and the fact that an innocent tourist has been kept behind bars for over 6 months, is just appalling. All Australians must boycott going to Indonesia for travel until Schapelle is freed. Otherwise, this act of misjustice could continue to fall on any one of us. It's a horrifying nightmare and my prayers are with Schapelle who is clearly loosing all sense of hope. FREE SCHAPELLE CORBY.
I will never travel to Indonesia as it proves again as with the Bali bombing that Indonesia is unsafe for Australians. Free Schapelle from these trumped up charges. She is an innocent victim of a corruption.
Haven't stayed up to date with the details of this case but I don't think you deserve the death penalty.
Its all very well to boycott travel relations with Indo but I don't think you really want to make enemies with a nation like that on a political level. Its not about moving into the 21st century either, Indo are well and truly in it, its about all people and governments respecting the laws and cultural differences on a global scale.
I certainly think our government should be taking steps to get her extradited to Australia and brought to trial here.
How can they justify the death penalty for pot smuggling when you have idiots bombing night clubs in bali and killing scores of people and they are basically getting off scot free.
Please, Australian Government and Qantas, please do more to assist in the Schapella Corby case. This could happen to any one of us travelling OS,
and will put alot of Australian people off travelling to Bali for holidays if this is the result,
apart from the fact that this poor woman is suffering immensely, and is the innocent victim in this case.
Please take some action, and consider if this was your son or daughter caught up in this, how would you react? Because she is an average Australian nothing is being done. This is shameful.
From a moral standpoint please take some action.
