After only being in Bali for 1 hour on a family holiday, my three children where continually harassed for a week to buy drugs from the Balinese. Why dont they do something about their own problems. On a recent trip to Bali my son hired a motor bike and was stopped each day by the police and told to pay $40 for nothing or he would go to jail for three months. They are so corrupt its sickening. Send Schapelle home now. I will never go to Bali again
Schapelle is innocent - this must be obvious to all even the prosecutors who seem only hell bent on proving a point - they do not seem to want to find the truth behind the drug scene.

I totally agree with Doug Lund (8630) & Iain Locke (8625) - the reasoning behind this travesty is insane.OK so the quantity is a little excessive for personal use(!), but wake up Bali, this isn't heroin or weapons grade plutonium - even if she was a willing mule (unlikely at basic levels of logic whatever your politics/religion) she would not be directly resposible for anyone's death or incurable trauma etc. Unlike a bomber, eh? In the light of the alarmingly inadequate sentence of the "Bali Bomber", the Indonesian Legal System must be aware that the death penalty for this smuggling is wholly disproportionate.The Indonesian Government should seek to prove to the developed world that it has an equitable and moral system where the justice matches the crime; and that they are not backward, barbaric and bloody-minded. I hope for Schapelle's sake they see common sense and reason.

Vietnam Veteran--This case could & should have been stopped by John Howard when the Indonesian president was here--The corruption over there(Asia) is endemic--While our government is grovelling to them with aid--Ms. Corby is going through hell--even if freed she will be scarred for life--I cannot understand why people are still going to Bali--maybe this may change their minds--
Ever since I heard this case from when it was on page 30 something of the paper and now to page 3, I knew she was innocent. It would make more sense to take pot from Bali and sell it in Australia as it costs less there then here.
Whats sad is that Schapelle is not alone in her circumstances. There are tens of other foreigners in similar dilemmas at the present who are not even heard of. Please help Corby and take a step closer to helping everybody else.

The custom officers stuffed up one of her chances of proving her innocence when they handled the bag containing the drugs (no fingerprints). The australian airport secuity should scare the witts off any person traveling on Australian airlines Especially anybody flying into Indonesia. THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN. The case should be thrown out of court but in Indonesia that would require a bribe not common sense.
I had plans to visit Denpasar and travel through the Indonesian islands. I have since cancelled my trip and refuse to travel or support Indonesia in any way until Schapelle is freed. After all the support Australia has pledged and offered to Indonesia, even when we didn't have any obligation to, the very least you can do is to free Schapelle.

How can a moral society justify giving Abu Bakir Bashir 30 months for his part in the murder of nearly 200 people, and at the same time contemplate execution or life imprisonment for someone accused (but impossible to prove guilty beyond reasonable doubt) of importing a few kgs of marijuana??

No, we dont know she is innocent. What we do know is indonesia's lousy track record for punishing foreigners, regardless of sufficient evidence. If there is really so much as doubt as to whether or not the girl is innocent, do fingerprinting, seize those airport surveilance tapes, and give the girl a lie detector test. She needs to be given the means to prove her innocence. In this country, its like shes presumed guilty before proven innocent. Why aren't the australian government stepping up to the plate and assisting this girl?
