I support this petition. I would not purchase another Android device if this suit is not dropped, and Cyanogen is allowed to go about his business of making a Google product USABLE.
Its supposed to be open source, act like it Google
I support this petition. Google, leave cyanogen alone. He isn\'t selling the ROM and only distributing it for people using Android phones. Don\'t be stupid.
I am a G1 Owner and I legally own all of the closed-source applications included in the Cyanogen ROMs. Android is Open Source software, I should be able to use it as I please. I support this petition.
This developer is one of Android\'s greatest evangelists. Google, you\'re cutting off your nose to spite your face if you make him quit doing what he\'s doing. He makes Android work like it should have in the first place: Great.
I support this petition. If I wanted an arrogant company manufacturing the OS on my phone, I\'d have bought an iPhone. But it looks like I got one with Google too.
Cyanogen\'s efforts have made Android as a whole much more usable (and valuable) than when Google first released him. Google should THANK him, not C&D him.
I support this petition. Tweaking and enhancing is what open source is all about. Packaging the extra features, with the standard Google apps just makes sense. The owner already _HAD_ them on the phone with the stock ROM.
I support this petition! Really, Google? Are you really going to try and stop him. He\'s the reason some of us bought the G1 and other android phones...
Google, he is not distributing the code of your apps, he\'s pre-packaging the functionality of your services into an improved version of your Open Source OS. Cyanogen\'s ROMs are the only way I will run Android. Do better, let other do better or kiss a client goodbye.
This is retarded. If Google were charging for the apps, that would be something else, but they are freeware, distributed with every phone and every software image they and the carriers release. There\'s nothing to gain here by limiting the distribution or going after developers that are working hard to make the platform better.
If they are really so worried about how we get them, post them on google.com as a zip file and we\'ll just push them over ourselves after the fact. Still stupid, but at least a reasonable response.
Google should be offering Cyanogen a job running the development department for Android, not threatening legal action.
