I'd rather see you run for President in 2008, but we all know that the DNC is on life support and you're the best qualified to revive it!
I WANT MY PARTY BACK!
I wasn't sure he had the experience for the White House or could defeat President Bush, but he is a very effective messanger and would be an amazing Chair.
The DNC has moved beyond the center and is dangerously close to right-wing. We need to go back to our liberal roots and get a great man with a great vision to lead the DNC.
It is essential that we re-form the Democratic Party as a populist, grassroots party, rather than the corporatist, Republican-lite Party that it has become.
Howard Dean is the best example of this type of leadership, capable of inspiring and mobilizing progressive citizenry. If not Dean, then it must be someone on the model of Dean.
Howard was sabotaged by the DNC last time out. He had/has the inspiration to take the election cleanly. Let him run the DNC and show them how to get it done and "take our country back!"
It is past time for the Democratic Party to have real leadership. The "Old Guard" of Terry McAuliffe, Al Fromm, Bob Schrum--god, somebody jettison this guy to Siberia and never let him near a prez. campaign again!--Leon Panetta and other Democratic appeasers who think all we need to do to win is make the party more right-wing...ALL these guys must go. They are clueless, their ideas have accomplished nothing but lose us election cycle after election cycle. The Democratic Party must become the party of Progressive Pragmatism and especially Progressive Morals. Let's take back those old Republican canards about moral values and national security, and cast them in a pragmatic, progressive framework, just like Governor Dean has suggested!
The strategy of playing more to the middle failed. We need a strong cheerleader in the chair position - and someone who will help us change so many of the entrenched local DEC's that are as much in touch with the values of the majority of Americans as Bush is.
I support Howard Dean because we need vibrant local organizations and progressive local candidates. We need a populist vision, strongly articulated and fiercely defended. We need someone who will defend the interests of all Americans, not by calculatedly taking a focus-group-tested set of positions, but by fighting the inherently antidemocratic consolidation of power... political and economic.
Dean has been the only effective communicator of true Democratic ideals. He also will be able to reassure the base that the party is not trying to move even further to the right.
Where would we be without Howard Dean? I foresee a world where the DLC effectively enwraps its slimy octopus like tentacles around the entirety of the democratic party to the point where yellow dogs like Joe Lieberman would remind me of Mao Tse-Tung in comparison. Howard Dean Para la Familia y Presidente!
The DNC first screwed up in 2002 with the governor's race in FL. The DNC screwed up again in 2004. How about getting it RIGHT for a change and giving Dean the chairman's position? Unless and until Dean is chairman, don't expect so much as a nickel from me.
