The party of social justice and a liberal idea of caring for others lost on social value (activists courts, ban gay nuptials, stem cell rsch) Dem.s need a change of vision & truth BUT must match the Rep. rhetoric (1000 points of light & compassionate conservatism) AND speak to the common people - I sign w/ slight hesitancy for a "Northeastern liberal"
I strongly support Gov Howard Dean as the chairman of the DNC. Since 1994 the DNC/DLC has been losing important races to the Republican juggarnaut, and the DNC/DLC has consistently responded with Bush Lite. ENOUGH ALREADY! Dump McAWFUL. Dump your losing policies and get someone in there who will FIGHT.
For the first time in my adult life I did not give money to the DNC for the past three years. We rolled over and then played catchup during the election. Clearly that didn't work.
Howard Dean woke the party. His vision, language, compassion and energy represent why I am a democrat. He should be the chairman...he represents us so well.
we need new direction. howard dean is a strong leader, without him this presidential race would not have even been close. he mobilized millions of new voters for the party... imagine what he could do with more time and more resources.
the current dnc is totally out of sync with the country as a whole. the stranglehold of the northeast millionaire politicos and special interests has got to be smashed.
McAuliffe had his chances. Howard Dean's fresh approach, real enthusiasm, organizational prowess and strength of conviction will make a difference.
GO HOWARD DEAN!
Howard Dean is the kind of Democrat the Democratic Party needs. Not only does the DNC need to know that the Deaniacs are coming; the Republican Party needs to know that the DEMOCRATS are coming. I hope Dr. Dean will make his first priority election reform.
The Democratic party needs someone with passion, courage, honesty and determination. I nominate Dr. Howard Dean. I will follow him with my support and contributions.
Someone strong and straightforward, someone focussed and respected is needed to pull our party together and unify it. The only person who fits that description is Howard Dean. Go for it!
It's time to remove the fund raisers and put in idea makers. The Democratic Party saved America once and it looks like it will be called upon to do it again if this year's election stands.
We need Howard Dean to revitalize our party at the grassroots, to break the stranglehold of special interest money, and to rebuild the party from the ground up. We need his vision, charisma, and moral authority.
howard dean was the spark that ignited the biggest grassrots movement i've seen in 30 yrs. he stays on message, got some great candidates elected! i voted for him in the primary and i think he should be head of the dnc. he is amazing, firey and brillant!! i had the pleasute of hearing him speak in public and was elecrifing!! we need an amazing man like him to beat the reps at their own game!!
Governor Dean is the ideal person to head the DNC, as he knows that only by standing up for progressive principles will be be successful at building momentum and a broad electorate willing to vote for these values. Dean has the courage to say what our party stands for.
The DNC needs a chair that will energize the party. The party needs a fighter to lead us, who will not let the Republicans define us. That leader should be Howard Dean.
We need a change. The "Old Guard" of the Democratic Party is getting us nowhere. It's not that the Dems are out of touch with mainstream Americans in terms of what issues are important; it's that they seem to have NO ABILITY WHATSOEVER to communicate those positions to folks not already among the party faithful. Don't believe me? Look at what happened last Tuesday. Some of those "red states" should have been blue. Before Daschle lost in SD, for example, he won. A lot of those states used to be winnable by progressive Democrats, and they've been handed to Republicans.
We didn't lose those votes because they were already taken by Bush; we lost them because we didn't fight for them on the issues that mattered. Before Dean, Kerry was unwilling to challenge Bush's preemptive war policy in Iraq. The Congressional Democrats, with a few notable exceptions, have largely rolled over and passed even the more ludicrous of Bush's policies, and are only now starting to challenge them. I feel like my party's let me down these last few years. When Arlen Specter is more willing to go against Bush than a Mass. Democrat, we have a problem. Howard Dean's constant hammering at Bush on the war, on health care, on the economy, and on terrorism made this more than a single-issue election, and seems to be what triggered the other candidates to develop spines again. He's the person I trust not to back down when it's important, and I think we need someone like him leading this party.
Howard Dean will make a very good choice for head of the DNC, not only for the millions of Democrats that are hurting, but also to help groom the country for the next run for President. He will bring a new structural change within the DNC to place importance on ALL governmental positions. The backing of a hotly contested state seat could very well be our next candidate to run for a U.S. Congress position and in turn end up being our next President. It is possible to be this forward thinking and act in those terms of years ahead. After all, this is exactly how our current idiot got into the Whitehouse.
I have already "suggested" to Terry that he sucks and should get out when he sent me his "what should be the direction of the democratic party now" letter
Al Sharpton defended his campaign for 2004 presidential bid against claims that he would kill the Democratic party with a line I never forgot: "You can't kill something that's already dead." Bring it back to life, Dean!
Please Howard, ride to the Rescue. Your Presidential Campaign was like Paul Revere's Ride. You woke up the Democratic Party warning the Rightwingers are coming...
