Howard Dean made me proud to be a Democrat again. The party needs drastic change and must return to its roots and communicate that message to every American. Dean is the man to do this. He brought together a coalition of Democrats, Independents, and others. This coalition has managed to stay together even after he lost the nomination and is still growing. He fought harder than anyone for John Kerry and rallied his very skeptical coalition to join in that support. He is the kind of leader the Democratic Party needs as Chair.
I have an issue with focusing on centrist candidates as our future. The right has been pulling the 'center of the political spectrum' further right all the time. As they proffer their radical agenda, the 'center' of the spectrum is now hovering near an Eisenhower Republican.
Kerry ran a good campaign; but the election was hijacked by GOP dirty tricks, including vote fraud. Dean is smart enough to see and avoid Rovian maneuvers, and he speaks to real Democrats, not the ones who are asking how they should become more like Republicans in order to get elected. Given the choice, it is likely that voters will choose real Republicans over fake Republicans. The Republicans have a terrible record on the economy, social programs, foreign policy, the environment -- you name it. We need people like Howard Dean to simply tell it like it is -- clearly and strongly.
I feel that strongly that Howard Dean would be able to give the strength and direction to the DNC that is needed. We need this after this pathetic election and the stronghold of the Reps. No more dragging us to the "right" just because--we need to stand for what is right for this country and we need someone who can formulate that and that person IS HOWARD DEAN.
Howard Dean and Wesley Clark are two men I would trust with my country's future.
Mr. Dean is the natural leader of the Democrats of today; the DNC would be wise to realize this.
I have been a registerd democrat since '1973. The party needs a facelift...Dean has what it will take to empower the party! It is time to embrace the word LIBERAL, instead of hiding behind this term moderate.
Terry McCauliffe has failed. We see this from this years election result. His strategy did not work. I can think of no better replacement for him than Gov. Dean. If anyone can save Our Party from the miasma it is in it is Howard Dean. It is time to get back to the basic principles we all share. I support Gov. Howard Dean for Chairman of the Democratic Party. He is the only one who can save it.
As Jimmy Carter is the model former president, Howard Dean is the model former candidate. I'm so impressed with all he's done and how involved all his supporters still are.
Howard Dean is the BACKBONE of today's Democratic Party. He has a way of cutting through the smoke and mirrors and getting at the heart of a matter.
Dean as head of the DNC would greatly strengthen our party. He'd be perfect in this position, and I know many people who didn't support him in the Presidential sense, who would love to see Dean in this position.
Howard Dean is capable of faciliting the necessary change in our party. The support he had during the primaries was incredible, and with good reason. This support will transfer over to his new position, and the energy he creates will guide the Democratic party in a new, bolder, and hopefully more successful, direction.
As the last Dean delegate elected in 2004 (April 27 Pennsylvania primary), I am not a neutral observer. But I saw DEan campaign all over the country for Democrats who supported him and Democrats who opposed him, and it is clear that her merges passion with politics in a way that motivates many, many people who would otherwise be on the sidelines.
Dean is a very inspirational leader. His straight talking style and knowledge of the issues, in addition to his eagerness to fight for the average person in this country make him the ideal person to take back the Democratic party. He should have been President and I still hope in the future he will be.I believe in him and his message. He has a vision, a direction, a plan and a unifying effect on a disjointed and scattered party. After Dean took on the Primaries many people were awakened by his passion and truth. Many people stood up and said yeah, I am like that guy... I Am A DEMOCRAT! I know more than one who switched their affiliation from Independent to solid Democrat after that. He is the man for to unify and redefine the party. An energetic, honest man for a tough job.
I was at a town meeting in Ithaca, NY today and a common sentiment was to abandon the Democrats. We need a strong vision to keep a coalition together. Poeple have had it with our fuzzy party. PLEASE give us some vision and backbone.
Howard Dean brings an energy and a passion that infused the entire election and, I believe, uplifted all the candidates to a new level.
That is just what the Democratic party needs!! He has attracted and will continue to attract new members to the party and I have met several people who had become disillusioned with the Democratic Party of recent years, who have come back because of what they saw in Howard Dean.
Howard Dean is an independent thinker who is unafraid of the establishment, both Republican and Democratic. He is a fighter when he needs to be. His record and character are impeccable. He should be leading the Democratic Party during this crucial time!!!
Gov. Howard Dean will continue to energize the young people of our party and give hope to all Democrats. He would make an excellent chairperson for the DNC.
