The Democratic Party needs a centrist. Dean is that centrist--fiscally conservative, civil unions (the same position as George W. Bush and Dick Cheney), NRA governer of the year for several years running, a willingness to talk to red state conservatives about our values, and an impressive funding machine.
We need strong leadership at the Cairman level and leasdership with fresh ideas and approaches to campaigning and putting the message out. Howard Dean has shown that he can do this job.
Dean reinvigorated Democratic politics, brought in a whole new generation of supporters AND was the first to use the internet in a new way in order to get contributions - all benchmarks of what we look for in the chair of the DNC.
Dr. Dean is a smart and passionate man who knows how to lead and inspire. We Dems need him to help us move away from the DLC, "Third Way" groups, and failing centrist, transactional approaches and toward a winning strategy of transformational progressive & populist politics.
If the election was really about "values", then we SHOULD have someone leading us who LIVES them, and pressures the rest of the DNC to do the same!! That's Gov. Dean.
Howard Dean is the reason that the democrats were even competive this election cycle. This isn't about being moderate, centrist, whatever the hell the current leadership call themselves, it's about being effective in getting our message out and creating passion for our agenda. Dean is the choice. we need innovation instead of the 'we've always done it that way' attitude

I will not vote for republican lite and if the Dem party won't start acting like Dems then they can forget my vote. Dean as chair for the DNC would at least be a start in the right direction.
Howard energizes the party, especially new voters and young people. He brings fresh ideas and a willingness to "pull no punches" with the establishment.
No democrat has Howard Dean's track record for getting things done and accomplishing Democratic goals. Although he has the support of many progressives, his way of thinking and views are really very centrist and pragmatic. His ability to cut to the heart of issues without the entrapments of ideology and rhetoric make him the best choice for democratic party leadership and the best hope for uniting a divided country.
The Democratic Party is completely out of touch with progressives in American and can no longer appeal to the masses. We need someone, like Howard Dean, to give the party new life and direction.
i am getting ready to reregister as an independent. if dean becomes dnc chair, i will remain a democrat & continue to give $, which is what you guys really care about.
Dean will address stabilizing climate, an overarching crisis that affects peace, security, the economy, agriculture, housing, the environmment and every American.
The elections made it very clear that the time to change the DNC is NOW. I still believe Howard Dean is the guy to help us get it done. No more fooling around - let's go.
He is sensible and pratical. He tells it like it is. He has strong character and good moral values. He delivered on his promise to support the eventual Democratic candidate.
As a moderate Democrat I am tired of being thrown to the dogs by a party willing to bow down in trying to appeal by moving closer to the radical right.
Howard Dean stands for something that these appeasing toadies do not; promise.
Ideas, passion, and a new start is needed before the Democratic party can be a player in America again. The status quo (losers, losing, lost) just ain't going to cut it anymore.
