The Democratic Party needs a change--not a shift to the center, not a shift to the left, but a forceful restatement and reframing of what we believe. If the DNC decides to go with "more of the same," then I'll know my party is truly dead in the water.
We need new blood running the Democratic Party. It's time for a massive change. Clearly doing the same old things are not working and trying to remain "moderate" is not working.
Liberal and proud of it!
We should NOT be scared of GOP attacks of "liberal" etc in choosing OUR candidate. We need a return to the SOUL of the Democratic party, away from the interests and back to our CORE VALUES. Dean's the guy to do it.
I'd like our party and our contry back! The Democratic party buying into this moral values stuff is enough. We cannot continue to be Republican-lite. The center has moved further to the right with each passing year. We need to redefine the party and Dean is the man to do it.
I am seriously looking to abandon the Democratic party altogether and go for a 3rd party.
We, the active members of the Democratic party, insist that a strong figure be made head of the DNC: Howard Dean. With every Democrat that accepts Bush's agenda without even a whimper (Gonzales nomination, tax cuts, CIA debacle) we grow weaker and more disgusted. If we don't show some backbone soon we will melt away as a party.
No more semi-republicans please. Give us something to vote for.
PS - Kerry did a great job, we just need more predatory, more machievellian campaign-strategists working for us.
Please listen to the red state people. They respect backbone, not calculated moves to the center. If we show some spine, we can win, but only if we make our principles clear. The time for lukewarm negotiation is over: are we an opposition party or an affiliate?
Dean has the energy, the intelligence, and the right outlook to lead the DNC. We can't keep slipping further to the right, we need to reassert our core values and convince people that they are just as (actually more) valid as right-wing 'values'.
If the Democratic Party is going to remain a viable entity, we are going to need someone like Howard Dean at the helm. The party has lost its way. Howard Dean could lead us out of this confusion with strength, integrity and passion. Go Howard!
Dean is one of the last hopes for a new Democratic identity. The party and this country would be well served by a Democratic Party with Dean at the helm.Go Howard!!!
I strongly voice my wish to have Howard Dean become the Chair of the Democratic National Committee. We need strong leadership to effect change in this country. Howard Dean is a strong, positive and respected leadeer. It's time for a new direction. Howard Dean represents that change.
If we don't stop chasing the right and move back to a traditional progressive agenda, the Party will die or, worse, continue its slide into irrelevance.
I am suggesting that Dean be the leader of the democratic party and that Trippi be communication manager so that the party may get feedback from its members and others and it is run as a popular party rather than as a Top Down organization
We may not overcome ignorance but that is no reason to join it. Vilsack is a good guy, but let's not move the party because we lost the election. The Country will come to us.
Howard Dean is responsible for energising the Democratic constituents and making the party take a stronger stand against Bush - more than ever the party needs to stand strong and be even more articulate - Howard Dean is the perfect person for this job!!
