The DNC as it stands, is poised to become Republican Lite. They seem to belive the propaganda that the Right-wing produces about the election results. By doing that and rethinking the Party stance on important topics like a Woman's right to Choose, the DNC is beginning to alienate its base. Howard Dean is the one who fired up the base to get organized and actually win the election, which we did, by the way.
It is time to reinvigorate and redefine the democratic party. Those running for office have tried going to the middle, but that's not what we, as Democrats want. We want someone who stands up for what is right, and someone who calls a spade a spade. Just because Republicans won the majority vote this past election year, that doesn't mean we should be like them- it just means we weren't different enough from them to prove that we could make a significant difference in the course of US politics. Let's regain our standing as the party of the people, and so regain our popularity and momentum.
Now, more than ever, we need someone to revive the values our Party has thrived on. We need someone who knows how to organize, raise money, and campaign with energy and vision. Behold, this is why we need the Good Doctor.
Howard Dean is the only person in a position to define and lead the Democratic Party. While many Americans view Democrat officials as stale, uncertain, and capricious, Howard Dean's leadership will give the party a touch of class, dignity, fire, and steadfastness that the Democrats epitomized during the FDR-era through JFK. We need to be open, inclusive, and thoughful in our political approach. But we can't be perceived as yielding to political expediency. Attempting to appropriate the Republican's agenda and stance will only cause the Democrats to appear lightweight losers, desperate to emulate the victors at the cost of the party's soul and people.
Time for the party establishment that BLEW the presidential election to GET OUT OF THE WAY. The party activists that showed you how to raise money on the INternet can show you how to reenergize this party. Put Howard Dean in charge NOW.
We need to stand up for democracy and do the hard work! The current Democratic Party is becomming a copy of the Republican Party and gives in to the criminal Neocon demands. We seriously need to change, and I think that Howard Dean will help to bring this about.
We need a candidate who knows what the Democratic Party believes in, what people can vote FOR when voting Democratic rather than what they are simply voting against; we need a leader with an innovative fundraising and organizing vision to run this party. That leader is Howard Dean.
Howard Dean stands firm on the progressive values I believe in. He understands the issues better than any other democrat, just read his book "You Have the Power". Dean knows how to inspire and motivate people everywhere, which will generate thousands of new volunteers.
He was also very moderate governor of Vermont. I think if got some crazy liberal as the DNC Chair, that would be a mistake. That's why I support Howard Dean as the next great leader for the Democratic party!
If we take the usual, good-old-boy,cautious route, and try to look even more like the Republicans, we will lose all suthenticity. Howard Dean brought energy to the Party, and encouraged a whole new generation of young to the Democratic ideals. If Dean is made Chairman, we stand a chance to maintain that momentum.
Let's get back to being Democrats! Democrats who grew up in the Terry McAuliff, Bill Clinton era do not understand that they are no longer the party that is for the people and against special interests. To most voters, the Democrats are now just oily politicians like all the rest. They take hefty sums of money from the same fat cats that give to the Republicans. Big Business has found their weakness: cash and power. Just like the Republicans. If you want an oily Democrat instead of an honest man, consider Jim Doyle, governor of Wisconsin.
The DNC has failed to lead with vision and integrity. I believe Howard Dean is the best choice right now. If the DNC goes against privacy rights by naming an anti-choice chair, then they have just caused the formation of a strong third party--with me in it.
I truly believe that unless the Democratic party turns back to progressive values, we are doomed to failure. Howard Dean will speak up for those of us who are sick of the Democratic leaderships ever rightward turns. If I were rightwing, I'd vote Republican.
We need a Democrat at the helm of the party, not someone who is Republican-lite. If the Democratic party conitnues to move to the right, I will leave it. And I know I'm not the only one. Select Dean and get the party back on rack.
I think Dean as chair of the DNC will speed the return of the Democratic Party to a party of authenticity, which it now sorely lacks. Also, it concerns me that Nancy Pelosi (Catholic) and Harry Reid (Mormon) appear to be supporting pro-life Tim Roemer for the chairmanship (latimes.com, 12/23/04)
We really need (a) a unified front, and (b) the ability to call a spade a spade -- both of these are particularly necessary in the social security debate. Dean's the man.
I very strongly support Dean for DNC Chair. I believe the current Democratic leadership has failed miserably and is continuing to fail the Democratic party by selling out our core values and failing to fight the worst administration in U.S. history.
The only person who can successful lead the Democratic Party at this point in time is Howard Dean. This is a no-brainer. Picking anyone else will be a let-down, a give-up. If the Democratic Party moves to the right, it's all over. The party may move a few fence-sitters, but will lose droves of real Democrats, who will feel betrayed. The fire and belly of the Democratic Party will be crushed until Howard Dean is elected Chairman of the DNC.
No one, and I repeat, NO ONE, is better qualified to revitalize the Democratic Party than Howard Dean. He's a man of strength, courage, and conviction, and led one of the most revolutionary campaigns in modern history. I fully endorse Dr. Dean for this position. It's exactly what the Democrats need.
Dean is the man for the job. It's time we tapped the tremendous resource we have in Howard Dean. Howard is full of inspiration. If we can't have him as our president, let's have him as our chairman.
Because he is a Real Reformer and Real Reformers push for a Multi-Party Democracy, (Full) Proportional Representation, Public Financing For Elections, Instant Run-off Voting, Cross-Party Endorsement or "Fusion" and Open Debates.
I have contributed to The Democratic Party when I was on my last 20 Dollars, so please listen to what this Democrat has to say.
I (as well as so many Greens) am tired of this corrupt electoral system.
We as a Country are so far behind the rest of the free world when it comes to Democracy, I think the United States needs to be the arsenal of democracy, as it once was in World War 2.
More voices preserve Democracy.
Democrats need to introduce Fairness Doctrine and Equal Time Bill to prevent the Mainstream Media from undermining Democracy.
The Democratic Party needs to support Serious Media Reform, We will never regain the U.S. House and Senate unless this is accomplished.
The Democratic Party needs to work for serious media reform, including substantial free air time for candidates and parties. Given the high cost of campaigns, the power of corporate special interests, and the fact that the networks are given free use of the public's airwaves, I believe that the networks should be required to give something back other than "reality" shows.
Media conglomerates are currently among the most powerful lobbyists against media reform, but I believe that were the media to provide substantive coverage of politics it would actually boost both media ratings and voter turnout.
In addition to requiring free air time for political campaigns, we need a president who will create a greater diversity of viewpoints in the media by breaking up the major media conglomerates, encouraging competition and quality as well as diversity. Please support new caps on media ownership and would ban the granting of exceptions to those caps. Limit the number of media outlets one corporation can own in a given medium, such as radio,
I just signed this petition because Carmen Galde did. Although I vote Democratic, I am not a Dean supporter. I feel that is far more worthwhile to back David Cobb or Dennis Kucinich
I am a DUmmie!!!! Why does a Democrat Governor of New Mexico not want to do a recount??? Because he is not a DUmmie!!!!! Your DUmmie efforts Guarantee GOP Victory for years to come. Support the GREENS!! DUmmies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!
It's time to wuit playing patsies to the Republicans. We need a fighter, not some ineffectual foil for George W. Bush and his cronies. We've been too weak for too long.
I believe Howard Dean can bring harmony, strength and intelligence to the DNC. Please support this direct heartfelt candidate.
Thank you,
In peace,
Carolyn Hanke
Howard Dean was the one candidate who inspired passion in millions of Democratic and potential Democratic voters. He is the best choice to inspire that same passion to rebuild a broken Party, inspire a new generation of activists, and help us believe we are reclaiming a Democratic Party that has become distant and removed from its traditional grass roots supoorters.
