Kerry-Edwards concedes the election on November 3 ... Barbara Boxer is the only US Senator to challenge certification of the Ohio election ... Joe Biden (Judiciary) casts his vote for Alberto Gonzalez, "Hey, I love ya, man: you're the real deal" ... Only Boxer and Kerry (Foreign Relations) vote not to confirm Condi Rice....
Now more than ever, Democrats need a leader to chair the DNC. America needs Howard Dean.
The DNC needs courageous leader with a strong voice who can command the attention of the people and the press. Dean's not afraid to tell it like it is.
we need to focus on economic and political issues and show people that they have been voting AGAINST their interests and for the interests of the wealthy by supporting conservatives who are against government social programs that help people...we have to show them how they have been manipulated and conned by right-wing think-tanks, radio talk show hosts, and other right-wing writings and groups...Howard Dean is the one who can do this....he also can match the conservatives by having a big-mouth to answer their endless supply of big-mouths.
Let me paraphrase Mark Shields when I say, "Howard Dean put the spine back in the Democratic Party".
Howard Dean is a great (and inspiring) American and the only Democrat I've seen who truly has the courage of his convictions. Please elect Howard Dean as Chairman of the DNC.
The DNC needs to move progressively forward, not backward. TOO many have commented that the DNC needs to be "GOP-lite" to win an election. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Become more liberal, and energize your base. There are more of us out there than you can possibly know.
The DNC Chair must be a proven fundraiser.
— The DNC Chair must be an inspirational leader who will rally our base of supporters.
— The DNC Chair must be an articulate spokesperson for our party and ready to fight for our Democratic ideals.
— The DNC chair must have expertise in managing a large and complex organization.
— The DNC chair must have vision and the ability to utilize new techniques and methods so that we can win both the House and Senate majority less than two years from now.Dean fits the bill. Dean is not too liberal, he is progressive. He is not too left-wing, he is Democratic. He is a Reformist.
We need new and passionate leadership at the DNC. We need an energetic outsider and not a
status-quo Washington insider. This party needs to solidly unite moderates and liberals, and it needs to re-frame the issues and the debates. We must talk to rural Americans and white males again using the economic issues that work for us, and we can't be afraid to talk about how we conceive of religion and other issues. We have to capture the imagination of the public again on great national issues. WE need to bring this party back to the grassroots and out of the hands of Washington insiders, and we need to win elections at ALL levels in ALL 50 states. Howard Dean can do this. He has the right ideas! We need major change at the DNC, and we need it right now.
Thank you.
My vote goes to Howard Dean. Putting aside the media hype on Dean's "I have a Scream" speech after the Iowa primary, one must look closely at Dean's platform, agenda and organizational ability in evaluating his candidacy for DNC chair. The bottom line? Dean "gets it."
Many Democrats in Washington and thoughout state governments throughout the United States believe the party needs to become more "Republican," more religious. This is wrong, and Howard Dean knows this.
The Democratic Party has always had a value base that is moral, ethical and truly spiritual (not religious). And Dean understands that positioning the DNC platform (as it always has been and is) is the key. Unfortunately, Al Gore and John Kerry did not take this platform and deliver a consistent Democratic message - they delivered mixed messages. Dean's platform was always consistent and as he stated in a recent interview in supporting the Democratic platform of "Stronger at Home, Respected in the World:"
"The Democratic Party will not win elections or build a lasting majority solely by changing its rhetoric, nor will we win by adopting the other side's positions," he said. "We must say what we mean -- and mean real change when we say it." "The Democratic Party needs a vibrant, forward-thinking, long-term presence in every single state and we must be willing to contest every race at every level. We will only win when we show up and fight for the issues important to all of us."
Dean is a fighter - he knows how to attack the radical conservatives, The Chritian Right and current regime in Washington, and he knows the importance of fighting for Democracy at a federal level, state level and local level.
Dean also knows it will take a massive effort in organizing and to promote a consistent message and heighten awareness both within the party, with the base of the party as well as with moderates (
The nation is increasingly turning against the CheneyBush junta's imperialistic war and plutocratic economic policies. We need a DNC leader untainted by support for failed Repugnican initiatives. Moreover, Howard Dean energized the base a year ago; without him, Kerry wouldn't even have been close.
I am only 17 but feel that campiagning is taking on a new form. Dean knows how to tap the internet to organize the party and will be able to bring energy to our progressive ideals.
Thank you, business-oriented Democrats for keeping the party alive in the 1990s. Now we need to get back to our real Democratic roots, and that does not include big business as the main constituency.
We must put an end to the "insider" Democratic leadership that failed us in the recent elections.
The "regulars" holding power in our party are scared of losing it. Howard Dean is not considered a "regular" but has been the most outspoken, plain speaking Democrat we've had. He has a proven track record of running a successful political organiztion (DFA)and being a successful Governor.
Let's get it right in the future with an honest thinking man at the head of our party. We need the right leadership to change our party.
Howard Dean represents the true values of the Democratic Party and is not afraid to speak out. We need to reclaim the values of democracy, equal rights and justice that the party once stood for.
I support Howard Dean for Chairman of the DNC.
I will be watching my elected reps to see how they vote.
I am an active Democrat and want him for changing our limp wristed party.
thank you.
Moving to the center is not the answer for our party. We need a party chair whose principles the American people can trust, and who can articulate a progressive agenda that resonates with the average American. Howard Dean is that person.
Our current leadership of the DNC is too passive and willing to "roll over" for the Republican Machine. To save our country from a one party rule, serious changes of directions are required. We need people like Barbara Boxer, and Howard Dean who are not afraid to speak out.If the current leadership is unwilling to do that, we want someone who will.
Democrats sorely need a clear, trusted voice and a leader inspires others. For Democrats at the local level -- the people who do the work and bring in the volunteers -- Howard Dean is that leader. Unfortunately, for what it says about the failure of leaderhip among Democrats, he is the only one we have.
In my opinion Dr. Dean is the best candidate for the job. The Republicans (and some Dems) have tried to ruin him, but true progressives know he is the best.
I want to make sure that the Democratic party represents progressive causes - a move rightward would be wrong, and keeping the same old leadership would be wrong too.
Dean is a better choice than everyone else in the field. Rosenburg is 2nd best, but he was prowar and therefore will not get my support. Both Dean and Rosenburg know that reforming how we frame things is key, so that's why they are both good. But Dean is much better and I will follow him in or out of the DNC.
Howard Dean is the best choice for DNC Chair because he gets it. He said all along that we needed to target local races, and that is the future of the Democratic Party.
Some truly good news for a change and just in the nick of time. This old Democrat was about to join the Greens. Hurray for Gov. Dean and may we Deaniacs show the DNC what being a real Democrat really means! I'm simply thrilled!
I was a libertarian who worked hard to get John Kerry elected. At the end of the election I decided that I would move to the Democrat party if they proved worthy in showing they will make a start in bringing a progressive attitude and reach out with it's members, because it has been sorely failing in it over the last 6 years. In my eyes, putting Dean in that chair will make me go and sign up with Democrats the next day and work hard in my state of Ohio. He sees where the disconnect is between the two areas of the partym and I am positive he can bring about the reconnection.
