Denno Senshi Porygon (Computer Soldier Porygon
Published February 3, 2009
Hello, and welcome all Pokemon fans. Today, I bring you a very controversial issue: Pokemon #137, Porygon.
Porygon made its television debut in Japan during the first season of Pokemon in 1997. The episode was titled "Denno Senshi Porygon" or, in English, literally "Computer Soldier Porygon." However, it did not go over well: the use of red and blue strobe-light visual effects caused around 700 children watching it to gain various symptoms, such as headaches, nausea, dizziness, and even seizures. Among these hundreds, some were hospitalized. As a result, the episode was banned worldwide.
However...
To quote Wikipedia:
"The episode was dubbed and altered in the United States by 4Kids Entertainment to slow down the flashing lights, but was never broadcast"
This leaves a glimmer of hope for us fans. If this is true, then it has been dubbed into English, and has been edited (slowed down, in this case) as to not induce seizures. That means that it can finally be released to the disappointed, English-speaking general public.
So, my fellow English-speaking citizens of Earth...are you ready to see this long lost episode?
