It's about time we were properly supported and gained some sort of equity with other government superanuants. the taxation and inadequate CPI increases are a joke.
I remember the Politician that fell off his Bike and claimed heaps for himself, cause he could. We paid in Tax and in our health and service and some cases our lives. Now they should pay us. John Christopher Durney-Ex Aust Reg Army.
Would have been nice to have the choice of opting in or out in the first instance. Why should I be slugged more tax on permanent retirement from the work force than the average retiree. DFRDB makes sure I’ll never get any of my tax back as dole payments!
I totally support the drive to place the DFRB/DFRDP pension schemes on a basis equitable with all other Government schemes (including that of Federal parliamentarians)
DFRB & DFRBDF exist from contributions made by clients of the fund. So do Woolworths & many other entities that have borrowed our money at bloody good rates !!
Here we go again, trodden into the mud like so many rats. If the money taken out of my pay for DFRDB was not compulsory contibutions then what the hell was it and more importantly where did it go?. Enough is enough for gods sake, give us a break.
My father served for over 20 yrs and paid into his super DFRB Fund, I own my own Company and fail to see how Compulsory Deductions from ones pay to Super fund is NON CONTRIBUTORY..maybe i am in a different world..Not one my father went to SVN for to protect our way of life.. C'Mon Pollies, give these blokes a break!
This appears to be the normal way that ex serviceman are treated in comparison to other servants of the government. I thik we all know which branches I mean in particular those who are rewarded after 8 years or so and others who receive compensations of, for example, $80,000 for a small fall from a bicycle.
Surely the Govt has had enough tax from my DFRDB after 27years taxing at marginal rates-not to mention taxing the sevice pension I receive as well.....Talk about Indian Givers!C'mon Mr Costello open those purse strings a little more, and let us enjoy the last few years of our life tax free...
When I turned 17 and was compulsarily required to pay DFRDB, I asked to be exempt from the scheme.White Mafia (Writers) told me to piss off!! Get it, COMPULSARY contribution.
DFRB was rotten to the core from inception. When compared to bureaucrats who put nothing on the line but their own self interest soldiers were well and truly screwed.
What is wrong with the politicians. I am the daughter of a Viet Veteran and you need to wake up to the sacrifice these employees and their families made!!!
DFRDB is not a pension as we gain no other benefits that apply to other pensions. We are only recieveing what we invested into the Commonwealth coppers with a minimum interest on our investment again I say DFRDB is not a pension just dividends from an investment and not a good one. Another point was not the parlimentarian pension (with benefits) started with DFRDB funds.
