The Government conveniently for gets the amount of money that it has made on the contributions paid in by Defense members. If they have to pay any pentions out of general revenue it's because they have missed managed the funds income.
They loved me when I payed into the scheeme for the taxes I payed, now they love me even more because I'm STILL paying them.So with that I dont class myself as a pentioner but the Gov. does without giving me social benifits as a retired serves man.Discrimination at its best, regards The Hun
I'm certain Governments of the day consider ex-service personnel to be like haemorrhoids - surplus to requirements, annoying and a pain in the .... ! Good Luck!
I whole-heartedly support the sentiments expresseed already in this petition. The parsimonious, penny-pinching attitude of the current government is quite shameful but unfortunately as a group the recipients of these benefits do not form a powerful enough block to influence politicians whose attention span does not extend beyond the next election. People need to get organised and begin a national awareness campaign to alert the public that the politicians who are forcing their sons and daughters into harms way are not prepared to foot the bill all the way to the end; they send them but won't look after them on their return. Sadly this is an attribute of all governments, not just the current bunch of Bush's hand-maidens.
No one wants the military when there's no threat.
I wonder if we initiated a Class Action against Gough's former Government for stealing our money would it focus the current politicians' attention on the DFRDB issues.
How can any government body say the DFRDB scheme, that I paid compulsory contributions into for twenty years, is an unfunded scheme? Do they take us for fools or is this just blatant discrimination that our modern day governments so strongly campaign against? What hypocrites we have for politicians, in one breath they pass legislation to feather their own nests and then with their next pass further legislation to strip the nest eggs of the people who have given a good deal of their lives in service to our great country.
My husband and I retire after this job on the DFRDB and cannot believe that yet again military personnel who have given so much of themselves and even their lives over the years are being discriminated against. I totally support this petition and recomment many more people, including wives who will suffer because of our Government's actions in their needier years.
I'm a retired public servant and member of Superannuated Commonwealth Officers Association. We get the same inequitable deal as defence retirees. I support this petition and also recommend writing to all MHR's and Senators who are supposed to represent us.
I served for 20 years and had no choice in whether my DFRDB deductions were taken from my pay. To add insult to injury, the government of 1972 took all of the DRFDB surplus funds and put it into consolidated revenue. I paid for my own super and should be classed as a "Self Funded Retiree"
I was a Natio from 55 to 56 and did 21 years in the Regular Army after that, nearly 7 of them spent between Malaysia and Vietnam. I dont expect any more than what is to be made available to the rest of the tax payers who contributed to their retirement fund.DFRDB contributions were no a matter of choice for a soldier
