To get the pension, we had to dedicate a minimum of 20 years to the defence force, serving the government. Over my 20 years I have had served my country proudly, often at the expence of time with my family. We supported the government, why won't they support us?
I also received this at work (Air Force Headquarters) today, but was unable to open it because of the Firewall limitations. There will be plenty of people still in harness willing to sign on, if you can get it to their home addresses
Concur. Also nice if can link to average weekly earnings or CPI, which ever is the higher! Also the continued reduced pension after the lump sum is repaid needs fair correction for the oldtimers.
I agree with Rodney Keefe - it's only going to be if enough people respond that anything will happen. Thanks to all those vigilant enough to alert the rest of us.
Having spent quite a few years as a staff officer in Canberra, I have witnessed some really dirty treatment of ADF personnel. This latest one doesnt surprise me. It would be nice to see the pollies act fairly and very senior ADF officers make a stand on this issue. Don't hold your breath for either.
I cant trust politicians, I cant understand politicians, why do they stand up in front of the press and procrastinate on the great work servicemen do, and we also did while serving. Then they screw us, when we are the most vulnerable.
When I joined the Navy in 1964 I paid into a manditory DFRB which was a separate profitable self generating fund.
Using stealth the Government of the day took over the fund and called it DFRDB and put the cash into Consolidated revenue. Futrue payments went through consolidated revenue.
As far as I am concerned this was the sam as a self funded and therefore should be exempt further tax.
Typically the BOHICA principle seems to be expected again.
5.5% of my after tax pay, compulsory payments made for 23 yrs, is UNFUNDED?? Not where I come from.
Where is the support for your veterans costello?
No wonder there is a recruiting problem. Despite more than 22 years service I couldn't recommend a Defence career to any young person, knowing how they will be cheated by their government.
Funnily enough I funded DFRDB through compulsory salary deductions from my ADF pay. The government also made contributions of my behalf. Does that not make it a funded fund?
