I was a member of the RAAF from March 1975 until June 1989. I don't understand why the military should be discriminated against and treated worse than civilians in this regard.
Once again the Government changes the rules at half time. I served for twenty years (1978-1998)and was proud to say so, but views can change. I though I was helping my country, but it appears that my country doesn't want to help me. My decision to protect my country now amounts to what????? It appears that when serving you get shafted and when discharged you get shafted again.. Seems far to me.......
With 18 months to go before I get my DFRBD I really hope the government takes note. Also it seems VERY unfair that we are willing to serve the country, yet the country seems unwilling to serve us!
Served as a pilot in the RAAF 1969-1989,including tour of duty in RVN on choppers. Resigned 7 years too young for my rank, so lost 21% of my super for that, then lived overseas for 16.5 years and was taxed 31.5c in the dollar on the rest. Having lost over half of my super for this period, it would be nice to get some sort of consideration post 60!
I served full time RAAF 1968-88 and RAAFAR since. Have been on CFTS 2000-2006. The scheme should be treated as partly funded and an actuarial position agreed on Commonwealth Contributions. Having worked in the superannuation industry, the government position could be more clearly defined to allow DFRB/DFRBD receipents better concesions post 60 years of age.
Here we go again - 18 & a half years of faithfull service - much of which was in Submarines & I still can't get a decent pension from DVA - just another way for "shiny pants bragade" earning money from Govt. & leaving us Vets out in the cold - DBF
I served with the Army from 1964 to 1985. Here we go again the Goverment has seen fit once again to punish the members who are receiving the BFRDB Pensions. Many of these Members are Vietnam, Malaya and Borneo Veterans. Give your life to your Country and this is another example of how the Goverment continually treats their VETERANS.
20 years 66-86 12 month tour RSVN shafted again by an ungrateful government - what was the crap that little johnny went on about on LOng Tan Day this year!!?
I am getting a double wammy with the current legislation having contributed to DFRDB for 20 years and the PSS for 14 years. Yes, Bill Dickson, the shiny arse public servants have been shafted as well.
I served with the RAAF 69/70 with pride & committment as a medic. Having wittnessed the destruction of body & mind of young Australians who served this country with total committment and dedication, I can fully understand why there is a crisis in numbers in the present armed services. Even with the down grading of medical fittness to achieve the numbers.
I served from 1952 to 1979. I never froze my DFRB contributions and waqs paying 10 per cent of salary when I was compulsorily transfered to the DFRDB Scheme there to pay 5.5 per cent of salary. i am now 72 years old and have payed back the sum i commuted on discharge but still receive the reduced pension. Give us a fair go I say.
I was a member of the RAAF from 1960 to 1985 and paid the cumpulsary % of my wage in the DFRDB.As usual our governments forget these things unless they need us.
Typical government shafting of defence personnel.Look back as far as you like and the government of the day had no compassion, respect or duty of care for serving or ex members of the services, and this government is no different.
Served 1958 -70 Typical that the shiny arse pollies and civil servants can look after themselves but never give any thought for those who gave them their security.
I strongly believe that having paid 5.5% of my Army salary into the DFRDB superannuation fund for over 20 years, this categorically classifies the fund as "FUNDED" and should be treated as such so under the proposed changes to the superannuation changes
I Served from 1963 to 1984. I was required by commonwealth Law to pay 5.5% of my income (after Tax) into the DFRBDFRDBF asa compulsary contribution .... this, to me is not in the catagory of an Unfunded contribution. I would like you to review the rules on Superannuation and how it should relate to the Service Pension
Pollies with snout in trough, again or still. When Latham intro'd super for Pollies, it was knocked on the head " it wasn't what what we expected to happen".
Labour, Liberal, Confederate and others are all a pack of B...........s, but I can't say that, so I will just think it....!
This is not an argument about right or wrong, it is wrong....there is no argument. So please correct the error.
I fully support this petition for a review of the decision. I served with Army for 27 years and subscribed to the DFRDB for that period. It seems like another discrimination against serving personnel.
We all had to compulsorily pay into the DFRB and then into the DFRDB from our wages no opting out. Therefore, this is indeed a funded superanuation scheme. The only unfunded part of this was on the part the government's of the day, walshing on their responsibilities by not financing their part to fund the scheme. Hardly a superanuates fault, but the fault of a succession of goverment's and their lack of diligence. Wouldn't happen today, but, servicemen as they did then have no say in this and the government again does not meet it's obligations.
Whitlam consolidated the fund, that was virtually self funded, into consolidated revenue, and it has been to the detriment of all contributors since, tough, but not our fault.
Don't just treat service personnel with contempt. We have paid for our superanuation, have you polititions paid into your's as equally as service members have?? I don't think so!!
Rethink your legislation or quit!!
I served from 1964 to 1987. I would like you to review this in regard to the service pension. I also remember that in 1972 excess funds were transferred from the DFRB fund to consolidated revenue.
It's no surprise that the ADF is struggling to recruit and retain the people it needs when the Government introduces superannuation laws that discriminate against ADF personnel.
I fully support this petition for a review of the decision. Much like the changes introducted with MSBS and the subsequent changes to that scheme it appears the current government is deterimed to undermine those of us who have served.
This is patently wrong. From the age of 15 I have been contribution 15% of my salary to DFRB/DFRDB. This is a superannuation payment that I paid for all of my 29 years service and nothing less. There appears to be nothing less than a gross departure from the terms and conditions of this contract.
I served for 9 Years 305 Days, they would not allow me to finish 10 years. Then it took 7 years of fighting to get my A Class DFRDB pension due to my injuries that I was dischared on. Be Fair We all served and Suffered for this and now it is extreamly difficult too try and survive little own trying to purchase a house. Fair Go for the Soldiers of today and past also our working lives have been destroyed due to injuries sustained whilst serving, and now we suffer more from stress trying to get to live the same as our peers.
I remember the government of the day in '72 trandferring all of our money into consolidated revenue. Now it is time to pay it back to the rightful owners.
