It would seem that once again, while the politicians vote for increased super benefits, we on DFRDB are forgotten, neglected or simply taken advantage of. Nothing changes even when you get out.
I fully support any person trying to right the injustice done to exservice men and woman under the guise of the DFRDB It places us out side main stream Austrlians
If there is a way to screw exservicemen thne our political "wonders" will find a way. I often think of what we would be doing if our fathers and grandfathers were aware of the dodgy machinations of the political animal.
Thanks John for courage to take this task to heart and follow it through. It is because of people like you that many of us enjoy the benefits we do today. Well done.
I am not a DFRDB/DFRDBF superannuant but I support those who are, in their quest for a fair go and equity of payments. After all we paid in 5.5% of our paltry wages, after tax. They tell me that it is now tax on tax on tax.
Congratulations John, I really hope that something can come of this. But I am not holding my breath, as we have been hoping for some time for justice to prevail - to no end.
I was stupid enough to believe that I joined the Army under conditions of service that would be forever recognized. Oh how foolish I was to think of politicians as fellow human beings
Here we go again !!! Fat cat Pollies eroding Diggers benifits.
Mr Howard will grovel and praise all of our Vets at high profile opportunites to gain him favour and stab them in the back as did Brutus to Ceaser.
As one of the old school I have advocated in the past that we have paid our taxes on these DFRB/DFRDB amounts Almost three times and tax on these amounts should be abolished. Regards
Why should people that were prepared to defend our country be treated as second class citizens when compared to politicians who volenteer for 6 years service and reap great rewards for lining their own pockets and making life generally difficult for those that they are supposed to represent.
It seems highly hypocritical to regularly see the PM taking photo opportunities with miltary p[ersonnel departing for overseas when the government treats previous soldiers in such a dispicable manner.
Members of the DFRDB had no choice about belonging to the fund, while they served in the ADF. While clearly those who are pension recipients have benefited from it, why should they be penalised through lack of choice, when they were compulsorily paying into a Government mandated pension fund, which now does not meet an arbitrary Government rule?
One can only guess as to why the Ex-Service community is treated so differently to other "Government" employees. It has become ever so noticeable that politicians are putting themselves before anyone else in the community, but the treatment of our veterans has become quite despicable.
I believe that it is important for the government to continue the monetary support after service of those servicepersons who were willing to put their lives on the line for their country. Do not leave us out in the dark, do not kick us down, because we will remember and so will our children. Why are we not as deserving of our retirement as those who have served in government, it is wrong to believe that those that sit in a room and make policy have needs over those the stop bullets from those decisions, DO THE RIGHT THING!!!!
ALL repeat ALL ex-service personnel need to support this thoughtful submission. We have an election within the next year of so and now is the time to initiate actions such as these and those who want our votes will action our requests PRIOR to the election.
This is another example of Government refusing to put their (our) money where their mouth is. Politicians are always there for a photo opportunity but never back it up with support for the veteran community. Another example is the refusal to index DFRDB pensions to MTAWE and continue to use CPI indexation resulting in loss of income for retirees, of course MP's superannuation is indexed to MTAWE.
Veterans we have to get everyone involved not just the ex-service community, everyone, not only the government but all parlimentarians are responsible for the treatment we receive.
