Any review of DFRDB, or any other form of pension to servicemen, must consider the unique rerquirements of service life and that the military is there to do the Governments bidding. By being willing to be in harms way on behalf of the Australian nation means that these men and women deserve extra support and consideration by the Government on superannuation and support matters.
As a tax payer and having served in the RAN (Full Time Active Service) 21 years I think that all ex service personnel should petition the government as our money that we have fort for should be taxed again and again and again
we are also trying to be self funding retiries but what hope have we got with the leaches that we have in parliement they do four years and get everything we get nothing
Navy 1971-1996; It is about time that the pollies stop treating us like second class citizens. I bet it would be different if they all had served in the ADF.
I have served in the RAN from 1975 to 1996. In which time I have contribute a significant amount of my wage to fund my DFRDB fund. To add insult this is Taxed twice once as part of my wage then as a pension it is taxed again. Now I hear that there is a possibility that this wrong can be rectified, as it should by removing the 2nd tax. The failure to rectify this oversight, will reflect in my voting preference!

The CDF talks about a fair go for serving members. What about the Government giving veterans who served their country loyally and without question a fair go. Mr Howard you espouse the defence forces but you won't put your hand in your pocket to help make life better for those who have done their duty.
Millions of dollars appropriated from DFRB Fund in 1972, and the Government is still trying to get more out of us veterans and current serving personnel. You have my support.
Congratulations & thanks for initiating this Petition. You are not just helping those of us who are the potential victims of the Government's unreasonable & inequitous attitude to ex service members, but you are helping to "--- keep the bastards honest!"

I'm trying to stay positive about this, but I think the existing pollies know that they might not be there after the next election, and they don't give two hoots. I hope I'm proved wrong.
