35 yrs soldier. PMF,AIF,ARA contributed to super since 1941 PMF.Apart from loss of standard of living through super indexation systm we are now again to be second class citizens
Once again we have been given the shaft by those in power. I bet the politicians wouldn't put up with this type of treatment if it were to happen to them.
I am not suprised that ex-servicemen and women are being disadvantaged by any govt, no matter what party is in power. I hope this will change but don't expect it to
Submitted Regardless of any Political Beliefs, and I fail to see how government can ignore veterans and not treat them as equal to other schemes for pensioners.
This is so unfair, that some people will get their superannuation tax free, while exservice personnel will be penalised and have to pay taxes because of a Labor Government deciding to steal the money from the DFRB. I'm disgusted !!
This development can be attributed to young wimp Dept of Finance bureaucrats who fail to adequately research the background of their ill-conceived concepts which end up being presented to government. It's is even more offensive that our system of government and its committee review processes fails to detect and dismiss such proposals before they become law. The proposal is a violation of the natural rights of DFRDB contributors. Legalised theft from DFRB contributors. This is the sort of failure in governance and government that can bring on revolutions - unless the political proces can respond sensibly to this petition.
I am in DFRDB AND FIND IT VERY DISCONCERNING THAT THIS COULD GO ON BEHIND OUR BACKS. I PERSONALLY HAVE SERVED FOR AUSTRALIA FOR OVER TWENTY YEARS AND AM STILL IN THE DEFENCE FORCE. I HONESTLY CANT BELIVE WITH THE AMOUNT OF SERVICEMEN GETTING OUT YOU STILL HAVE THE NERVE TO PUNISH THE ONES THAT ARE STILL IN AND THE ONES WHO HAVE SERVED THEIR COUNTRY. ABSOLUTLEY DISCUSTED SHAME PETER COSTELLO SHAME....
This is a chance for you Mr Howard to put your words into action, and do something possitive for the service personal that you are so willing to heap verbale prase on for the outstanding work they do.
With somewhat faded memory I remember a surplus of $80million being removed by Fraser,Gough may have started it but all parties have had a party at the suffering diggers expense.ENOUGH
Like many thousands ? hundreds of thousands of others, I paid into compulsory super via DFRB. The rules were changed by government but I was not consulted or even told what was happening
