With politicians granting themselves payrises of astronomical proportions, to grant this fund tax-free status would be a drop in the ocean. Is there a politician out there with the guts to stand up for us?
Why should we have to suffer. We were the one's on the frontline while you polies were guarded at University. Oru fund was going well until politicians fouled up. Give us a break and make history. You would be the first to do so .
What a nerve,i paid tax on dfrb when i chose it.Again paid tax on it when i got out.Still paying tax on it,to this day.Is not 3 times enough for us diggers.
Not surprised that young people these days are reluctant to join the forces, considering the way service personnel are treated by respective governments. The opportunity tp sign this petition needs to promoted more widely - I found out about it quite by accident.
Having had a meeting with the Minister yesterday, I am convinced that DVA Departmental officers are running the show for their own ends and we will have difficulty in persuading the Government to change course. Having said that, the louder the shout, the more likely we will be heard.
since the day i volinteered to serv my country.the polies of successive goverments have not served me.i gave all for them only to be lied to and then have the monies we were told that would look after us. is benifiting every one except us "why"
peter, i joined the defence force (propably whilst you were still at school) and served 20 years.i was awarded war service in 2001 that was 26 years aftewr i did the job the government of the day sent me.please give us the recognition and the renumeration that we have earned at our governments bidding.
It's about time this Commonwealth Government, looked at looking after people who worked in the services, We all payed in to DFRB / DFRDB and now I feel we will be duded by a government who will send us to do their political wim then put the knife in for the benifits we earned and payed for
I did 20 odd years and to think my spouse is not as good as a FORKED TONGUE poli, makes me wounder!! and to make thing worse, these so called "pals" of service members only have to "serve 1 term (6 years) NOT 20 years and a lot more than any service member..
One can only hope that this is an honest mistake. If so, please change the policy to benefir ex servicemen who have served honourably without question.
I am a serving member and I have completed 30 years service when I see and hear of things like this it makes my blood boil. When I hear politicians make outragous claims like this I have to wonder why did I sign up.
I served in Three theatres of war and served with honour . I wish our Treasurer could say he is now acting with honour towards Defence force members . In 1954 when joining this scheme I and others with me were told that we would contribute and the government would also. How stupid of we young men to believe them!!!!
It is only equitable that Servicemen, who have done their duty, are treated fairly on retirement, and do not suffer a double whammy double dip from their meagre savings. Great Pommy comedian Billy Russel put it succinctly; "Look at them in Parliament, Promise you everything, give you nothing, and before you get it, they take it off you."
Surely it is funded as I had pay deductions contributing to this for 33 years. The CPI formula also needs review as it is aligned with the minimal possible installment increases.
I feel that it is about time that the Governments and Bureaucrats therein realise that the Veteran community deserves a fair shake of the act of decency and given the rights and remuneration that has been so well deserved in the service of their country and thus far been denied because of the recalcitrant attitude of those with access to the legislation and purse strings of consolidated revenue, remembering that lost lives and minds are worth more than is currently accepted.
I hope the goverment looks favourably at this as a small compensation for those who gave a great deal of their life to the defence of this great country
I hope this mob of Federal Government liars realise that this is one of the many reasons that recruiting is failing that younger people are more educated these days and aware of government Bureaucrats that do not give a "rats butt" about the Defence Force members active or retired.
This is evident here and when injured in Service of the country.
