The content of Section 85 DFRB and Section 129 DFRDB render it UNLAWFUL for taxation of any kind to be levied against, OR deducted from, any 'entitlelments' which accrue to members under either of those Federal Acts of legislation.

I have served the Australian Defence Force for over 35 years. I have been willing to lay my life down for my family friends and countrymen. I have suffered two lost marriages that this service was partly to blame for due to the stresses and work I could not discuss. While I believe that our parliamentarians may be worth a better salary than my colleagues and me, they (our parliamentarians) are not asked or expected to lay down their life for anyone's defence nor do they undergo any formal training, compulsory testing or annual personal assessments to obtain promotion or keep their job. They are not formally bound by a second set of laws tested in a court, in addition to civil law to uphold truth , honesty or probity and yet they receive a higher level of superannuation conditions such as indexation and widow(er)s’ benefits. This is unethical. I agree with 3825 Kevin Gordon.

Served 21 years. We need to stand together and fight for our rights. We paid our due taxes and contributed from the start of the DFRDB Scheme. Why should we get taxed more than others again. Pollies are tar and feathering our scheme with all the other Super schemes. Is there a politian out there willing to make a stand for us who understands what service men and women sacrifice for the country and families without srew us to to wall. Without us there would be no freedom in this country. Remember ANZAC and what it means to be Australian and the cost of life to service men and women. "Lest We Forget" If you keep screwing us there will be no hope or future for the defence and Australia if our insentives to serve are taken away.
It is now time once and for all to recognise the worth of a Defence Service person rather than penny pinch how to rip them off for a couple of dollars. When the Powers to be want to be protected they hide behind the serving person and tell us how good we are so why not provide a well earned incentive in the form of tax relief.
I served for 23 years and have always felt ripped off by this system. Dfrb/dfrdb taken out in after tax dollars while serving, taxed while I served, taxed when I got out, now taxed each fortnight then at tax time my wage and Dfrdb are combined as two incomes and I'm taxed again. Get a grip you treasurers and stop ripping off the people who have been proud to serve.
