my father is a vietnam veteran and now elderly and quite ill. its nice of the government to find the time to review taxation of veterans and find the need to increase them.
I served in the ADF for 32years, and am a Recipient of both DFRDB and MSBS, and find it dificult to survive from fortnight to fortnight, yet our "Pollies" line their own pockets, while mine remains the same, yet the cost of living has gone through the roof
It doesn't matter if it is DFRDB or Ex Vet pensions, they are all losing value daily, while the 'pollies' fill their own pockets.
No longer is it tied to the Common Wage - it is a lot lower.
My contributions were used for 24yrs by Govt and after 5 op deploys in ADF its great to be tax hammered at forced rollover time upon leaving. Equity,Equity,Equity please sir!!!
I wonder how pollies can sleep at night when they vote massive pay increases and superannuation benefits to themselves. exservicemen need a bebeficial change
Veterans commit 20 years serving their country, their pension, when they retire and start work is taxed at the maximum rate, why cant vets put this money direct into their super tax free?
I was always believed that we had money deducted from our Army pay to DFRDB. I remember Mr Whitlam snatching about $28m sometime 1975 without reference to the members of the scheme - we didn't get to vote for it!!
