Denise Huxtable gets her own show in A Different World. The show follows Denise as she goes through college life at Hillman college. We are introduced to older student Jaleesa, and the very talkative Maggie. We meet and end up liking spoiled rich girl Whitley Gilbert. We watch as Dwayne Wayne tries to get Denise’s attention. How can we forget about the always trying to make a buck Ron?

By the time season 2 begins, Denise is gone, but the show starts to focus more on Whitley, Jaleesa Dwayne, and some new characters in the earthy Freddie, and the future medical student Kim. By the time the show ended, Whitley and Dwayne began an on-again off-again relationship before they became married at the end of the fifth season. The stories dealt mainly with college-themed issues such as racism, fraternity pledging and on-campus romances. One poignant episode was the date rape episode. How may of us remember the episode when Whiltey was supposed to marry Byron, and Dwayne crashed the wedding? I love that episode to this day. When Freddy hooked up with all people, Ron Johnson? This show was a great show, and the fans of A Different World really want to see this series released on DVD.

The release of this show should not be contingent on how well That 70's Show sells on DVD. That 70's Show and A Different World are two different types of shows, that have different audience interest. Fans of A Different World should not be cheated out of being able to purchase this show on DVD.
