Goal Met!
We the undersigned, dedicated fans of Disney, ask the Walt Disney Company to not do away with the traditional animation. We enjoy the traditional animation that the company was founded on. Without this, the company would cease to exist today. We suggest rather than ridding the company of the traditional animation, incorporate it with the Computer Generated Animation. Traditional hand-drawn animation is an art and cannot be duplicated with computers. It comes from the human heart and hands. We ask that the company keep the traditional hand-drawn animation and not get rid of it, for if they do they will disappoint the fans that keep the company alive today. We ask that the company remember this quote when making a final decision on this issue: "Take care of the customers [fans], and the business will take care of itself."

I miss 2D animation (or traditional) why is Disney putting it away now if they had it for over 70 years. The newer cartoons suck for the most part and depends on the computer rather than pen and paper. Like the previous signature (663) I grew up with the Disney Afternoon shows like DuckTales, Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck, Bonkers, Goof Troop, Gargoyles and Gummi Bears. These cartoons have the traditional animation just like Disney's classic movies and shorts. 3D can be good, but it'll never, ever match up to 2D.

As nice as CGI - computer animated movies are hand-drawn traditional movies are still also good enough to continue being made. The reason Pixar's hits have been so successful is because they make great storylines. Even if Toy Story was a hand drawn movie it likely could have been just as successful. Also improve the quality of hand drawn cartoons and make better ones. Teacher's Pet was a good series but making cartoons in which you see the sun with a happy face on it suck. Animation quality was not that good in Teacher's Pet even if the plots and characters were good in the episodes. Also Buzz On Maggie sucks not because of animation quality but unoriginality. I mean come on who wants to watch a dumb show about a talking fly? Its a stupid cartoon. No offense but that cartoon sucks. I liked Gummi Bears, Aladdin, Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, Ducktales, Talespin, even Quack Pack was better than this. So was Recess that was a great cartoon. I loved the Disney Afternoon. Buzz On Maggie though and newer programming like Emperor's New School suck. Stop making lousy sequels to great Disney movies please like Lion King 2 Simba's Pride, Lion King 1 1/2, The Little Mermaid 2, Pocahontas 2 Journey To a New World, Bambi II, etc. Kronk's New Groove -- that does not sound like a good movie. Stop the sequels. And don't make any more cartoon series based on movies like Emperor's New School -- is based on Emperor's New Groove movie, Aladdin based on Aladdin movies (the cartoon was also good though but now too many new cartoons based on movies). You made 101 Dalmations the series, Emperor's New School, Aladdin, Hercules, The Legend of Tarzan, Lilo & Stitch The Series STOP MAKING NEW CARTOON SERIES like these.

I support this petition. Please don't get rid of 2-D animation! They should At lest come up with fresh storylines. All they are doing now is repeating the same storylines with different chgaracters. For example the wild is just a mixture of finding Nemo's storyline and Madagascar.

I support this petition. The whole world grew up watching Disney, he is our father and he raised us by giving us these beautiful animation filled with love and laughter in every scketch. Our new genaration will gorw up watching pointless crap like chicken little and the incredibles, these teach them nothing they will grow up cold hearted with no child laughter or innocence! Another point is I wish to work in Disney as an animator, its been my life long dream, only to be shatterd by the fact that there is not more traditional animation. I am disgusted, if Miyazaki can still use traditional animation why catn Disney. If Walt (rest his soul) was alive hed be heart broken at al of this!

I support this petition. The acquisition of Pixar lets Disney get the best of both worlds. They now have John Lasseter to ensure of the story's quality for the whole animation department. Disney, let your CGI movies be branded as Disney-Pixar and you can keep traditionally animated as Walt Disney. People like to see both types of movie, so by all means keep them both around. It will be tragic if we lose the Disney tradition of producing high-quality American animated movies. These traditionally animated movies have a warmth that CGI can never duplicate, and because of that, people will always have a place in their heart for them. Just look at the beauty of "The Lion King" or of "Mulan." Irreplaceable in CGI. Story is of course important, but now, because of the return of John Lasseter, you've got that covered, Disney. Disney, please do not destroy a proud artistic tradition.

If Disney is reading this, "HAVE YOU LOST YOUR DAMN MINDS!" Pardon my language, but what I think of this new idea of closing down your 2D animation department is utterly rediculus. And if you think that computer animation is gonna put you back on track, your wrong! If I heard this once, I've heard it 1000 times; the 3 things that a cartoon needs is STORY, STORY, STORY! Whatever you do, don't break the tradition. Of course computer animation is popular nowadays, but what is wrong with both 2D and 3D?

I agree with DOMOLURV. It is refreashing to know that Disney wishes to make their work better, and beleive that computer technology will work. But to stop using the Traditional hand drawn artwork is idiotic and will result in losing many many fans that have accumilated over the years. These movies enchanted everyone that watched them, and to throw out a method that has worked wonders on capturing the viewers heart is a low blow indeed. Stop this madness, and continue to do what has been done magneficently so far. If Disney continues on this path and continues to make the "not-up-to-standa rd-movies" Not only will profit decline, but the children, and the adults, that have watched these movies will feel pain and sorrow over something they once loved. I full support this petition and ask the Disney Directors directly, "What would Walt Disney do himself?" You know the answer, so please, make the right choice.

I support the fact that Disney is headed in a new direction in 3D rendering and animation, but taking away the entire traditionally animation history is just insulting. This shows how technology has taken away the fine arts of our people, and how disinterested big corporate companies are in having such fine art made. Everything made by a computer isn't a marvel! There are few people in the world that can be taught to pick up a pencil and make beautiful artworks into a masterpiece of modern media, but almost anyone can be taught how to do 3d rendering at home with a spankin’ copy of ‘Making 3D Animation- for Dummies’. I take this as a personal insult and a low blow from the company that has claimed to be there for its customers as friends. Personally, as an artist, I find that relying on modern technology, computers and a skill that can be taught to so many people is bland, and undeniably selfish. In recent films, such as 'the Incedibles', marketers have found that they earned more money from the film and dawned upon the great idea of ruining people’s ambitions and careers. But did they ever stop to think it may have been the plot? Maybe the characters development throughout the story? No. The blunt reason why Disney is ridding themselves of their traditional hand drawn artists and section is because of profiteering and money gain. Nothing is being offered through this decision except the selfishness of Disney's corporate head-boys, and their already multi-million dollar income to be risen. Although I agree that 3D animation movies can be astounding, but what will they be providing when people grow bored of seeing the same things over and over? There’s only so far you can go to make 3D animation to look different than you can with pen and paper.

Disney's movies used to captivate people's hearts. I'm fifteen and I still enjoy sitting down and watching The Little Mermaid, The Black Cauldron, Aladdin, etc etc, but I really have no want to see these newer disney movies. Please bring back the old way! Bring back the magic of Disney!

I think it's awful to eliminate an art form for financial reasons. Really, they should work on better scripts. The animation was already fantastic.

I think it's sad, really. What's happened to Disney, have they all lost their minds? Sure, CGI animation is cool, but there's no magic in it. In getting rid of the 2D animation, you're getting rid of about 99.9% of your fans.
