Teachers as dedicated and inspiring as Obain Auttouoman are worth their weight in gold. Please let him stay in this country and continue his good work!
It is hard enough to find a teacher who is passionate about actually educating their students. Throughout 3 years of going to college I have only had one teacher that really made an impact on my life and I will always remember her. If this teacher is so good that his students are doing this, that should tell you enough about his integrity and value to the students. If he is deported, then you are saying that you do not care about the students or the teachers, but you do care about the technicalities. He has been here for 13 years and has contributed more to this country than many of its citizens, even those born and raised here. If that does not mean anything, then everything this country stands for is a lie.
There is no legitimate reason that this man should be deported that has any real support behind it. This will only earn the United States and the current administration enemies. But even beyond that, Mr. Auttouoman has an excellent record with both his students and the law. There are those who have been exempted from deportation for much more than a missed court date. Do not let this minor infraction come in the way of the longstanding this man has with his students.
Our schools, and our country, need people who care about the students who are our future. People like Mr. Auttouoman and his students must be more important than rules. PLEASE LET HIM STAY!
Dear Mr. President,
I have been following this case closely. As a professor of urban education and human development, I know how important Mr. Auttouoman is to so many students at the Boston Arts Academcy, one of our beloved public schools. I join the chorus imploring you to do all in your power to prevent his deportation. Sincerely,
Michael Nakkula
This is ridiculous. Is our country run by fascism or democracy? The answer lies in decisions like this one. We are already on a slippery slope. Let's put an end to it while we still can.
By deporting Obain Auttouoman, the government is missing the forest for the trees. Immigration presents many problems that are not easy to deal with, but this man is not the same as every other man and woman. His case is unique and, would a single person with the power to affect a single exception to the rule, a good man will not be punished and endangered. And, perhaps even more importantly, a group of students who are trying to work with the government to affect positive change will NOT be disillusioned and give up their efforts to be involved citizens. PLEASE do not deport Obain Auttouoman. It is clearly a mistake, so why not correct it?
It would be a grave and absurd injustice to remove this teacher from the U.S. Please help justice and common sense to prevail in this case. If you care about education, here is an easy way to help hundreds of American high school students by retaining a talented and dedicated teacher. Please!
Please keep good teachers in this country. The deporting of outsiders functions to make it look like the government is doing something to protect the public, but in deporting the wrong people, we lose some of our strongest allies, our Patriotic Americans, to the cynicism of knowing that the government is more concerned with publicity than substance.
Why is deport the one person actually doing good. These young adults have a lot of respect for this man. This is something that is hard to come by now a days!
Let obain stay, it is a disgrace to say I am a citizen of a country that is so stuborn when it comes to little things but if it includes blowing something up theres no discussion it just happens. FREE OBAIN!
Please keep Mr. Auttouoman safe in our country and allow him to contribute so well to our educational system and our children. With so many issues in our public school system, it would seem we would make every effort to keep those that make a positive difference.
This is grossly unjust & so clearly NOT the will of the people. There is a solid track record of excellent civic contribution and integrity. As a Boston area resident, this will be a great loss to our area. Please stop this unethical behavior. I speak also as an Evangelical Christian. Jesus Christ would NOT act in this way. Please examine this situation in the light of the Gospel, Mr. President. I would appreciate your reply. Thank you, Sharon L. Regan, RN, MTS
while Obian's deportation is technically in the interest of national security, exactly the opposite is true. Taking Obain away from his community here only has the potential to disrupt and hinder. This is a shameful action, and i am outraged that it is purportedly being done in my best interest.
Mr. Attouoman has given us the greatest gift -- the lives of our children, and it is with his guidance and love, that they may learn to believe in themselves, embrace education, and become contributing members of our community. He is giving them the chance at freedom; freedom from ignorance; freedom from poverty; freedom from despair. He has served our nation and we owe him the same freedom.
We were humbled by his devotion and love for this country and by his service to the American people. How many of us would have the courage to stand in his shoes?
We join with so many other voices to say, "Please STAY the deportation of Obain Attouoman."
Please be compassionate in your actions concerning Obain Auttouoman and allow him to stay in the U.S. Clearly, he is an asset to Fenway High School and thus to the country. Thank you. Jane Kelly
