I teach English at Lawrence High School in Lawrence MA - I have no understanding of how you can take away a teacher from a school system that so desperately needs teachers - good teachers who care. Don't do it!
Please do not deport this honorable teacher. It's simply not fair to our children or to a man who has come to make this abetter country for our children not to harm them. Your policies while well-intentioned do not always protect the rights of all. Please reconsider this for the children of Fenway High School.
Dear Mr. President and Mr. Chertoff,
I am the Executive Director of a youth program in Boston. Mr. Obain Attouoman is a teacher in our City and well respected among the adults and youth that I know. It is against the spirit of our country to deport someone based on the letter of the law (missing a court date) over the merits of the case.
Please allow Mr. Obain Attouoman to stay and teach our children well,
Miriam Messinger
Mr. Auttouoman has touched the hearts and lives of these teenagers in a way I have never seen. And for tht reason alone he should be allowed to stay in the U.S. We certainly need more people like him. As a parent I can say first hand how frustrating trying to keep one child on a straight path, he has done this for more than one. These are our future doctors, lawyers and anything else they want to be. Why would you as a country want to take that away form them? I should probably be looking for some advise from Mr Auttouoman.
Understanding, Mercy nad Tollerance is what America is supposed to be about and as a man who fears God President Bush you should know that. Taking this teacher away abruptley is sending a negative message to everyone not just the American people
PLEASE consider this case individually - Mr. Auttouoman (known to his students as Obian) is an incredible individual who adds only positive things to our community. He did not 'neglect' to attend his hearing, he mis-read the hand-written date. He'd been looking forward to that hearing for 6 YEARS.
Thanks very much.

We really need to look at our country and realze that it needs to be saved. Not just Iraq or Afganistan but America needs our help. Let this man stay and go look for people that are actually doing wrong.
Dear President Bush and Mr. Chertoff,
As a former Boston teacher I want to add my name to the many supporting Obain Auttouoman's request for asylum. I have heard much about his outstanding work with Fenway High School students over the years.
Please grant him a proper hearing and do not precipitously deport him.
Sincerely,
Robert Pearlman

Please set an example by doing the right thing in a specific case. The reason you have the ability to change this ruling is exactly so that it can be used in cases such as this one.
