This teacher, Obain Auttouoman, should be allowed to stay in the country and continue with his valuable contribution to the education of our kids. Don't forget "no child left behind!"
This the character and dedication that we as Americans strive to demonstrate. He embodies what America is about. Allow him to be a continuing asset to our Nation
As a former immigrant myself, I am only well aware how confusing INS notifications can be. Moreover, Mr. Auttouoman is a TEACHER as myself; I only know how dire the need is for decent teachers in this country. It is bad enough we don't have enough good teachers, let's not kick them out of the country because of a formality.
I have never seen such an amazing lesson for students as the one they are learning through Obain. Please help them truly internalize the fact that activism is a necessary part of living in a democracy by making their first efforts successful!
We are the land of the free and the home of the brave. Mr. Auttouman is brave and he is free..please continue to let him share is knowledge in the home of the brave.
These students have renewed my sense of hope in our youth and in our future. I am proud of them and clearly this man, this educator has inspired these young people in a way that is special and shame on us if we, THE US, deport this man. SHAME ON US!!
Please do not deportObain Auttouoman. He is making a wonderful contribution to the lives of the Fenway school students and pose no danger whatsoever to our country.
In fact, by helping hundreds of students become good citizens, he is helping our country,
Obain Auttouoman has earned American citizenship through service to this country's youth. Let's give him what he deserves, and work to end this country's anti-immigrant hysteria.
America's school systems are so used to sending or getting rid of the good teachers. The ones who actually make a difference. For a person who is a great teacher and a great man at that, I will stand.
Mr. Bush and Mr. Chertoff: Rarely, if ever, before have I seen such an outpouring of support for a teacher by students and fellow teachers alike. If ever an exception should be made to our immigration policy, this is such a situation. This man is clearly a tremendous asset to the Boston Public School System and to America as a whole.
Boston's students need more teachers like Obain. Not only should he be allowed to stay, we should be looking for more people like him, wherever they were born.
There is a strong
need to look at
immigration policy
in America. However
merely deporting a
productive, law-
abiding resident
such as Mt. Auttouoman is non
sense.
this country has in his past brought over africans illegally, and now it's trying to deport us against our will...their racist policies needs to be stopped.
Obain is a role model and an inspiration to students, staff and the community. he is in no way a threat to our country. He is creating the leaders of tomorrow and should be allowed to stay in teh United States.
Mr Obain Atouoman, is not only a great Math teacher, he is a unique ability to astablish rapport with the students, and the students truly love him and love to learn from him. It would be CRAZY to not let such a valued asset, and most importantly amazing person, to stay in the U.S. permanently.
It's always all the good people that get deported or taken away from us. There isn't alot of teachers specially in Boston public schools that actually care about there students.
Martin Luther King's words, "We shall overcome..." have been realized. Mr. Obain's student's have overcome those who seek to send him back to his native land. His student's used the system to keep a man who has made a huge impact on their lives. A good civic lesson learned.
Mr. Bush and Mr. Chertoff,
We need to have a reasonable immigration policy. Please allow Mr. Auttouoman to remain in the US so that he continue with the important work he is doing for the students he teaches.
Obain Auttouoman is anexcellent educator
at Fenway high school in Boston.
Mr. Auttouoman left
his native Ivory Coast to gain politicol amnesty.
I suggest that he granted Green Card
status so that he can continue his excellent contributions to the
of Boston and the
country as a whole.
Please do not deport a valueable contributing member of society who just miss-read a court date. We are not dealing with a criminal. We are dealing with a politcal refuge.
It is not often our children protest a worthy cause, Mr. Auttouoman is definitely a worthy cause. Mr. President, we urge you to provide him with amenesty and citizenship for he has truly embodied the the democratic rule of our forbears who came to this Country to escape persecution.
This deportation will further erode respect for the rule of law and the basic moral authority of the US government that the last 4 years of the Bush administration has seen so much damage to. For God's sake...do the right thing for once
Yes I'm back...just adding on to what I said before. If you take Obain then your taking away a big piece of Fenway. Not only that but your taking away pieces of our hearts. I'm always hearing about how we can make a difference, but when we try to do that we're always being stopped by the same ones who told us we could. they should be happy we're fighting to keep a teacher we love instead of dropping out, but this government is twisted anyway...
Mr.Obain like every other American citizen deserves to stay here when he has done nothing wrong. All he is guilty of is making a great impact on the lives of boston's students and giving us an abundant amount of love, the kind of love we need from teachers. The governement is always looking for ways to make our society better but they take out the people who do that. If they think Mr. Obain is a threat to the country than we have way more terrorists here then we think.
Education has suffered enough under the current administration, do not arbitrarily wage battle against good teachers as well. They are the single resource that remains.
