Mr. Obain has helped many students boost their academic performance. He has helped so many students succeed. He should definately stay in the United States.
Mr Obain should stay in the U.S. He is a perfect example of not just a very good teacher, but also a pleasant humam being. He has touched the lives of so many students, way beyond the classroom.
Obain Auttouoman is a well respected teacher and member of the Boston Teachers Union. At a time when we as a country have celebrated democracy and have advocated tolerence thoughout the world, it would send a signal that we, too act on those beliefs within our own country if we embraced Mr. Auttouoman and allowed him to remain here. Bureacracy has it's place, but not in this case. Here is a man who deserves a second chance. Please keep Obain among us as a productive, contributing member of our community. Let's not send him back to the oppressive government that he protested which will undoubtably seek retribution upon his return.
It would be an injustice to send a teacher back to a country where he could face death. He has been such a great asset to our students, and community at large.
Obain is a positive influence in the lives of many children. We should be fighting to keep people like him in our country instead of trying to get rid of them.
We need qualified immigrants to teach in our system. This is one man who has proven his worth to our community. Please do not consider sending him back to his own country where his life may be in jeopardy.
If this man has made such a great contribution the children of the Boston area, I believe he should be given a chance and be able to stay in the United States. After all, we, A,erica, are about freedom and what is right. Well do what is right and give this man the chance he deserves. He did not come here looking for negativity he's been doing nothing but positive while he has been here. Please give him the chance he deserves
Obain has demonstrated that he is an asset not a liability in our country through his years of dedication to high school students. I believe the huge public support speaks for itself. An exception to the law can be justified.
I am in support of keeping people in the country who are an asset, not only to the country but to the community they live and work in. Which is why I feel Mr. Obain should be allowed to stay in the country. Anita Handy Parent
Considering the shortage of qualified mathematics teachers, and particularly those willing to teach in urban schools, and considering that there are no specific reasons to deport Mr. Auttouoman other than procedurals, it makes absolutely no sense. Please reconsider this "reactive" decision.
for goodness' sake!
there aren't enough good teachers as it is willing to teach the maths, ehy would you deport someoone on a technicality? considering the current political situation in Ivory Coast, what does that say about our "democracy"?
Reading about recent deportation policies and actions I have feared for the soul of America. However, as long as we have people such as the students who have rallied in Mr. Auttouoman's cause I have hope for my country.
Please do not deport this man who is of greater help to this country here than outside of it. We are the land of the free; freedom has not doors that lock.
I am very moved by the efforts of the students at Fenway High School and the Boston Arts Academy to hold on to a teacher that has influenced their lives in such a positive way. Surely this effort is an example of the freedom and liberty we all cherish here. I recognize we live in difficult times, and that rules and regulations promulgated by the people's representatives are critical in preserving and protecting the freedom we enjoy. But this effort to keep Obain Auttouoman in the country has demonstrated the power that can be exercised by a free people in pursuit of a just result. Please encourage and support this effort as an example of America's fundamental goodness.
We need more teachers like Mr. Auttouoman. Let him stay as long as necassary to get full legal status as a resident. This is the type of person we want to keep in our country. Let's have a system that makes sense!
Saw the situtaion on the morning shows and have prayed for our government to show some reason. Please let Mr. Auttoouoman stay in the U.S. It is a disgrace that this is even an issue.
It is our humane and dignified dedication to freedom that allows us the choice to render equitable decisions in "No dignified teachers left behind" as well as "No students left behind". Amen.
I am so pleased that in this one situation justice will prevail, but I worry about how misdirected laws are unfairly and unreasonably targeting immigrants to the USA.
I have 2 teenage students and the way they be telling me about how their teachers really don't be helping them understand their assignment.... Well here's one who do care and if we strip him from his duties then what kind of school systems will we end up with?
I believe that once "we" take something that is good "we" will never be able to replace it!!!! WHAT WE NEED IS GOOD SOMEONE WHO REALLY CARES ABOUT OUR CHILDREN'S!!!!
It is a fundamental American value to welcome those seeking freedom and to value and celebrate the contributions that they make toward strengthening and enriching our own culture. Please let this gifted man continue to enrich our ongoing heritage.
I have worked with Mr. Auttouoman to train teachers for Boston's afterschool education field. We are lucky to have such a dedicated individual - please ensure that he can stay and continue to educate our children.
