With the horrific stories circulating right now in the Boston Herald about dangerous teachers, how can we even think of deporting a teacher as dedicated as Mr. Auttouoman.
Mr. President, Mr. Chertoff,
Please help these students keep their teacher!
I am an educator at the Museum of Science in Boston who has had the pleasure of getting to know Obain AND his students.
Every Tuesday, his students spend the morning with me -it is the highlight of my week as they are an amazing class of teenagers. I know that Obain's role as their teacher has been a fundamental part of their education. Fenway High, the community of Boston, and the U.S. cannot afford to lose a teacher like him.
Please, help him stay in the United States and show our country and the world how much we value those who are effective educators of our youth!
Thank you.
Mr. President and Mr. Chertoff, we have to be able to distinguish between the good people we want to keep here and others that deserve to be deported. Otherwise, our system is a sham and a disgrace to our immigrant roots.
I think the President puts so much effort in sending our men to fight over in Iraq, It shouldn't be too much to save one teacher who is making a difference in our own country.
Mr. Autouoman is an asset to our community and a mentor and friend to his students. Something is really wrong with our immigration system if someone like him could be deported to a country where he's in danger, just because of a technicality.
Good teachers are rare. we cannot afford to lose good ones. thisappearsto be a bueracratic nightmare and one thatis clearly unAmerican. i hopie you will move to rectfy this situation and allow this great teacher to return to his classroom.
Homeland Security can only see as far as their nose. They have simply miss the mark on this one. Let us keep all the Illegal Immigrant Fugitives and send back the law abiding wanna be Citizens. We are becoming a Common Sensless Capitalist Nation.
Our schools need more civil servants like Mr. Auttouoman, not fewer. We elect officials who will use their judgement, not act blindly. Please, use your judgement in this case.
Dear Mr. President and Secretary Chertoff: I have just learned of the plight of Mr. Obain Auttouoman, who feces deportation from the United States for what appears to be an innocent mistake in appearing for his asylum hearing on the wrong date. If would be a mockery of justice if a procedural error, on whoever's part, led to a premature decision to deport Mr. Auttouoman. Please allow him to remain in the United States at least long enough to receive a fair and just hearing, so that his status will be decided on the merits of his case rather than a procedural technicality. The greatness of America is rooted in its compassion and respect for persons in the pursuit of justica and order. Please create the window of time and opportunity for Mr. Auttouoman to plead his case.
It seems important to be reasonable in deciding reasons for deporting people. Being mistaken about a court date is a terrible reason for deporting anyone. And to deport a good teacher, really horrible!
Please make sure this man is not deported and can continue to teach.

This man is clearly not a threat to our national security, but rather a symbol of the opportunity we provide to oppressed people everywhere, and a great benefit to our already burdened school system. Deporting him would be both unjust, and a tragedy.
What is happening to Mr. Auttouoman is wrong. It is because of immigrants like him that our country is great. To send someone like him, who so embodies the American spirit, back to such a dangerous environment because of a technicality is not only hypocritical, it's a travesty. Please do what you can to rectify the situation. Thank you.
Dear Mr. Pesident,
Please don't take this good teacher from these students. I personally know pass students of the Fenwick who have went on to college because of Mr. Auttouman dedication to their education. This really isn't sending a good message to our young people.
Thank You
Sarah A. Flint
Immigration laws and processes should align with our country's highest values. How should we treat our neighbor who is seeking asylum? Certainly not like this.
As a former substitute teacher in the Boston public school system, I know how rare and how valuable good and dedicated teachers are. Please do not punish Boston's students by deporting a dedicated teacher over a technicality.
I've been following this story and it is rather silly. He's helping students in our country. At least give the man another hearing date (preferably one that it TYPED OUT, it is 2005 you know)
Mr. President: I am a Boston resident and education professional. Mr. Auttouoman exemplifies everything you have been saying about the need for qualified, caring teachers who can help students achieve their dreams, goals, and aspirations. I know Fenway High School quite well and urge you to take action to at least delay Obain's deportation long enough for a thorough investigation into his case. We need him here. Thank you.
Please, make this exception. This was an honest mistake. Why would Mr. Obie ignore such an important hearing? He must mean the world to these high school children and this is breaking my heart to know that an extraordinary man, a great teacher will be forced to leave what he loves so much and these kids are fighting for him to stay. Isn't that telling you something. Where is justice?
As co-chair of the Board of Trustees I ask that you reconsider Mr. Obain's deportation. This teacher is central to the education of our students. His commitment to the children is such that they have engaged in an active democratic process to petition on behalf of our teacher.

America is the a safe haven to refugees worldwide--to think that we would deport him, a man of excellence, an educator, a person committed to equity and justice, is beyond belief.
Effective teachers are a rarety. Especially rare is having urban students rally around a teacher in this manner. Please allow Mr. Auttouoman to remain in the U.S. in his teaching position for Fenway High School in Boston.
