When you can show me that anyone working in a government office or department hasn't made an error, then I'll agree with the "just going along with procedure" excuse. Until then, I would expect the human beings running things in Washington to treat a fellow human being with compassion, understanding, and respect.
Isnt' it enought that you are sending criminals back to their home lands, why send someone is obviously contributing to the growth of the economy and our children's intellects. Fairness is allowing him to stay to continue his contribution
This would be a tragedy! This guy is everything we could want in a teacher, committed, a great mentor to the kids, and a superb educator. Don't let it happen!
Let him stay!!!He's sounds like a good man the children repsect him. He's been here 13 years for heaven sake.If the kids aren't dropping out and go to school and want to learn, shouldn't that say something.
Let's do what's right for our country. The YOUTH (students)deserve all the education we adults can muster. So please hear the requests of the people. It's not about what you think all the time BUSH it's about what the poeple of this country want. Untill you understand that you will never be for this country. We have a voice and we want to be heard.
Deporting Obain would be a tragic mistake and would not improve homeland security whatsoever. Don't let the children of Boston, as well as an innocent and hardworking man, suffer needlessly! Allow Obain a hearing for political asylum!!!
I have been a volunteer math judge at Fenway High School for 2 years and have had the first-hand pleasure of watching Mr. Auttouoman in action with his students. If you truly believe in "leaving no child behind," then do not lose a gifted teacher because of an immigration procedure. Keep Mr. Obain Auttouoman at Fenway High School.
When someone who has obviously made such a difference to the students at Fenway High School can be so easily taken away, people have to stand up and make their voices heard. I applaud the students for standing behind their teacher. Others of us in the community can do no less. Please give Obain a chance; give the students back their teacher.
Please intercede to consider the big picture in Mr. Attouoman's case and allow him to remain here as a dedicated teacher and honest servant of these students.
Sending this wonderful teacher back to Ivory Coast compromises our students' edication and concept of justice, and so is much more damaging to homeland security than allowing him to stay.
yet another example of the hypocrisy of us immigration policy. we feel you here in california and we stand with you on the side of justice. education, not deportation

This is a prime example of putting technical procedure above the intent of the law. Punishing someone for failing to read a handwritten letter correctly, by deporting them, is ridiculous. His hearing should be reopened.
It is amazing to me, that a country supposedly concerned with democracy and freedom would deprive its youth of such a remarkable and well respected educator. It makes me wonder, what and whom we truly value in this society. I hope this government makes the right decision and allows Obain to stay!!!
It takes quality teachers to get the best from their students. It appears that Mr. Obain Auttouman is a trailblazer in the eduacational arena. The students value his presence in their lives and so should this government. Please give the man a chance to continue to be an asset to these deserving students and dismantle the bureaucracy.
If this were a European, he would have been given an opportunity to appear before a judge, but the fact that this is an African Black Man, he is being singled out and unfairly ostracized. This is a sad day for America and it's tired citizens. How much more will Americans stand by without revolting against the imperialistic government that has been in power for the last 4 years. When will the power be given back to the people? Leave Obain alone, he has done no wrong. By sending him back to Africa is to give him a death sentence.
The Statue of Liberty has enscribed, "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free." This quote symbolizes a lot to many who consider this the land of opportunity. This man is giving back to the country that has protected him by educating the children in our country. I urge you to reconsider his deportation.
i think if obains been here as a good teacher and students like and love him they need to leave him alone and let him continue with his teaching and educating these students. They need to focus on people who does wrong and needs to be jailed or deported.
Let all people of good will join us in keeping this good teacher in America educating our children and applauding his students in exercising their democratic rights.
Please grant that Mr. Obain remain in the US where he is safe and contributing as an exceeptional educator and role model to so many students. Thank You
We need quality teachers to teache quality education in our Urban Schools. This suppose to be a Government for the people, and by the people. Not a Government for the Government and by the Government. Why is it, that the just get punished instead of the unjust. You have made exceptions for others why not for Mr. Obain.
This deportation is a direct violation of the "No Child Left Behind Act"! By deporting Mr. Auttouoman, you will be leaving thousands of children behind. So many children depend on Mr. Auttouoman for their education and their lives. Don't be a hypocrite, and leave these children with nothing!
I wanted to make it known that what is being done regarding the deportation of the Boston educator Mr. Obain Attouoman is completely unjust and against what this country stands for. It is not his fault that the court date of the asylum hearing was not written clearly on the form that he received! Our nation is not going to be made any safer by taking away one the most influencial teachers that these children have had. It's hard to come across good teachers - and they are most certainly not a threat to national security! I do not support his deportation and hope that you will allow him to stay in the country and be heard by the asylum board.
This would be such a huge mistake. Not only is it wrong to deport someone who has made a positive contribution to children but what is the message we are sending our children.
