Please join me in boycotting perezhilton.com. In the most recent events surrounding him in an altercation outside of a Toronto nightclub, it has become VERY clear that Perez Hilton is not someone that should be held in high regard. I do not condone violence nor do I think he was ever deserving of any physical harm, however, his behavior post altercation is down right unacceptable.

From day one he has said that he the blogger and he as an individual are two separate people, yet, this is clearly not the case. His video blogs on Carrie Prejan and those directed at Will.I.Am make this very clear as they illuminate his true colors. He obviously lacks judgement, intelligence, class, morals, values, and a sense of what is right and wrong. Even if he really is the different person he claims to be, doesn’t this still say a lot about him as a person? If someone is willing to gain fame and fortune by profiting off of putting others down and by acting out through a fictitious personality, isn’t this a testament to his true character?

I think a prime example of his superficial personality can be found in the recent attention surrounding Rihanna. Does anyone recall all the posts he made bashing Chris Brown and how he wanted everyone to believe he was vested in Rihanna’s well being and recovery? Then, he posted FAKE pictures of her in the nude on his site. If the poor girl wasn’t already having a hard enough time as it is, and he really cared for her well being, how would posting nude photographs help her recover from her traumatic experience? Wouldn’t this only make the entire situation that much worse for her? Obviously, he was not really concerned for her well being to make a post like that. The man obviously has no boundaries and will go to any lengths to gain an extra page view.

He is a prime example of how today’s public throws the term ‘celebrity’ around far too generously. What has this person done to achieve celebrity status? Kick people when they are down? Poke fun at the children of celebrities because of the way they look? Profit from other’s misfortunes? What does he or his site contribute to society? Don’t people see that Perez and his site promote hatred? Nobody likes it when people gossip and talk behind their back, so why is it okay for him to do so on a daily basis? Furthermore, why should people applaud him for it?

Beyond these obvious points, none of the material on his site even appears to be his. It all looks to be recycled from the work of others. Why should this man profit without giving others credit? After all, no one would even know who he is or visit his site if he didn’t create a domain name that steals from the essence and following that Paris Hilton created. I think the world would be a better place without gossip altogether, but I understand that there is still a market for it. That being said, there are sites such as TMZ that post original material that is more like celebrity news rather than gossip. When was the last time you saw cursing or personal attacks on their site?

This man just released a pathetic apology. Aren’t apologies supposed to be about owning up to your wrong doings and taking responsibility for your actions? Has anybody read his statement? It is almost as if he is justifying his actions all the while trying to gain support for being a victim. Doesn’t anyone recall that in his own video, he himself stated that he wanted to set Will.I.Am off? Or that on his twitter page he accused Will.I.Am of assaulting him? Doesn’t anyone find it funny that he has not posted the video or picture of the incident which took place in Toronto on his site? Is it because the only voice that can be heard on the video is his own or that Will.I.Am is nowhere to be seen in the picture of him next to a fist? Where is the apology to Will.I.Am? Where is the apology to Fergie for that matter? Is an apology even an apology if it is derived from the pressures of millions of people who expect one from him? As sincere as some may think it is, knowing that he refused to make an apology just one day before, how genuine could this one be?

What about his stance on free speech? Do you not find it interesting how out of the thousands of comments left for his video and statements over the last couple of days, that the first couple hundred responses are almost all favorable followed by 90% negative? If anyone watched his first video post, they would have noticed posts taken down moments after they published if they did not side with him and could be viewed near the top. I believe he is manipulating the comments to make himself look like a victim and someone the public supports. However, if we all look again to a reputable source in TMZ, we would know that the public is not on his side if anyone noticed the polls they held over the weekend regarding his involvement and reaction to the situation in Toronto.

This man needs to be stopped. Before I even saw the footage or photograph circulating, I knew that Will.I.Am was not capable of assaulting Perez, let alone anyone for that matter. I cannot say that I know him personally, but did anyone see him featured on Oprah for giving back to the less fortunate, promoting education, and what about his involvement in the Obama campaign? This is the kind of real celebrity and roll model that should be championed in our society, yet, Perez Hilton has made a personal attack against him in an effort gain attention and to tarnish his reputation. Unfortunately, I feel that many of the viewers of his site do not question the material he posts and view it as fact. Therefore, Will.I.Am is still viewed as the one who assaulted Perez even though Perez himself has changed this statement, but not retracted the accusation towards Will.

What about the whole incident itself starting from the beginning? I had a friend who used to work security at a bar in downtown Toronto so I know that people would get into fights all the time. The police rarely showed and even if they did, charges were never filed for a punch because everyone involved knew that nothing would come of it. On a side note, shame on the Toronto Police for falling victim to the power of his large following. Perez himself even said they never came to his call initially stating they had larger problems to deal with. Obviously, the only reason they did was because of his twitter following. Had anyone else received a punch at a club, I highly doubt police anywhere would double back to check it out. Valuable court time and tax payer money will be lost the moment Perez steps inside a court room. Furthermore, it will be wasted yet again in his civil suit. After all, he clearly deserves compensation for the little scratch under his eye, especially since he made that dreaded visit to the hospital right?

For the reasons listed above, please join me in boycotting perezhilton.com. Furthermore, I don’t think it should stop there. Please stop following him on twitter and boycott the work of all those celebrities who follow him and play nice with him as well. After all, what kind of message are these celebrities sending to our youth if they support and associate with him, even if it is obviously artificial? As far as I’m concerned, Perez Hilton is a terrible role model and someone who does not contribute anything positive or productive to society. I feel as though all the celebrities who associate with him should fall under the same category. I also think the companies that advertise on his site should be boycotted as well, not to mention the television programs that he appears on. How is this man nominated for a teen choice award? For anyone who visits his site, how do you think Billy Rae Cyrus or Bruce Willis feel about this man for the things he says about their teenage daughters? BOYCOTT PEREZHILTON.COM: AS WELL AS ALL THE ARTISTS, CELEBRITIES, ADVERTISERS, AND PROGRAMS THAT ASSOCIATE WITH HIM
