On May 2, 2007 the FDA has censored the Energy Drink "Cocaine".
Although the drink is called "Cocaine" and the tag line is "The Legal Alternative", they do NOT advocate the use of the actual drug Cocaine. Apparently, the FDA thinks that people can't discern the difference between an Energy Drink that is labeled and marketed as such and Cocaine, the illegal drug...come on, if there is a single person that was influenced to take the drug Cocaine because of an Energy Drink, then they aren't intelligent enough to have a valid point in the argument.

Since the FDA decided to ban one brand name solely because of it's name, let's take a look at a similar example: Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola owns the brand name "Coke". It isn't coincidence that it shares the same surname as Cocaine, seeing as how the drink originally contained the drug! However, the FDA doesn't see anything wrong with all the advertising for "Coke". You can find it anywhere! So, why is it that the Energy Drink is banned, but Coke hasn't even got a chip on it's shoulder? Let me put this hypocrisy into perspective for you -- In 1 Coca-Cola Factory, they are allowed to GROW a coca-plant...aside from this, every other bit of coca has to be imported, since the plant can also be used to make Cocaine (it is Illegal to grow coca in the United States).

So, "Coke" gets to have coca in it, have a brand name linked DIRECTLY to the drug, and market freely!
"Cocaine", however, gets bashed by the FDA, censored, and banned. See something wrong here?

On the "Cocaine Energy Drink" website (http://www.drinkcocaine.com/), as well as their MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/DrinkCocaine), they CLEARLY state that it has no connection to the illegal drug, other than the name.

So, please help the cause and put a stop to this unnecessary censorship! Sign this petition, and if you want to help out more, on that same MySpace page there is a "Save Cocaine Energy Drink" link (see news on page).
