24 Hours in a homeless person's life:
wake up at 3:00AM. Collect bottles, cans and precious metals till the Recycling Centers open around 9:00AM. Walk away with about 45 dollars. Go buy cigarettes and booze and grab a joint from the guy on the corner that sells them everyday. Pan handle all the older people claiming that you have had hard times and JUST lost your job(lies). Go to park in downtown areas. Wait till noon when stupid do-gooders bring in a wonderful lunch. Eat lunch and throw all the paper plates and napkins and packaging on the ground. Make the city hire maintenance people to clean up your mess. Play grab ass with the female (or male) homeless people in park till gets dark. Get so drunk and high then stagger over to your personal cardboard box and pass out till 3:00AM and start day over and over and over and over.

Bums are bums because of decisions they make. The only difference between us and them is they lack any motitivation and have gotten used to the lifestyle. A lot of them probably came out of prison and never adjusted - just waiting to go back in. Some got caught up in the wrong crowd doing drugs probably hanging out at hostiles and campgrounds. The old gang split up and went their own way and then there you are wanting to stay in that lifestyle so you become homeless going town to town sleeping on the streets. Eventually you just get used to it. Your life becomes so mundane and worthless that you sink into a mode of self-despair, possibly staying strung out on drugs for years. Then you come down just in time to realize that you have freaked yourself up beyond any hope of rejoining society. The world just isn't what it used to be so you either become humble and beg for change or stay strung out on drugs begging for change. Doesn't make a difference. With a little motivation anyone can get a job.

I am so sick of having to walk past bums on the street begging for change to feed their drug habits. I support this petition because I know that everybody that supports bums have never talked to any. They are too naive and blind to know that they are buying alcohol and drugs. I've seen it too many times. I've gone into the stores and watched them and talked to them while doing it. I can't give a homeless man money because I know it will just end up spent on a forty or a joint. Its a waste of time. I can't say I care for them, I've known people down on their luck who got back on their feet, so I know its not impossible. It just takes some discipline. Homeless people are treated so badly because people like you instill this "sterortype" in their minds. The majority of homeless people have lost their jobs from hateful and unappreciative families or lay-offs. After losing a job, they can't afford to maintain their home, and as a results, lose it. Without and address, it is hard to gain another job to provide income, trapping the, a cycle that is extremely difficult to escape. Why do you think that all homeless people want 'crack' or vodka? Some (some, not most) turn to them because of hateful people like you treating them miserably; most homeless people just want a little money to eat and sustain themselves.
